One of my stands has dried up. Think it may be the area has got a lot more water than before but not sure.Beaver has it dammed somewhere use to be high and dry now it's almost a pond with a creek! Anyway moved the stand this morning. After we got it moved we notice two scrapes in the area. This after a lot of cutting and messing around. Do you guys think we may have messed up the area or will it bother the deer a lot? never moved a stand duriing the season before and wondering if it was a bad move. What do you guys think?

I'm sure, after a day or so, it will be fine. You cannot run a deer off of its home range forever.

However-if there was any dry ground left at all-or if there will be after a little period of dry weather-that spot could be dynamite. The deer will figure out pretty quick that no one goes there because it`s too wet, and they`ll use any dry ground there as a santuary.

Check the beaver dam to see if they are using it to cross over to dry ground. Good pinch point. I you wore rubber boots, wore gloves, & used a scent kill spray on your clothing, give em a few days to adjust to the changes you made.

If there's a better ambush zone than a beaver pond I'd be hard pressed to name it , people take deer from swamps all the time .

Talked with one of the other guys I hunt with about all the water in the bush this year. There actually is no dam this year. It was on the adjoining property last year but the farmer blew it out in the spring. We've just had so much rain it's not draining fast enough. Oh well there are tracks all over where we moved the stand, right on a little ridge. Not the best tree in the world(Blue Spruce) but it will do for this year. Shotgun season starts next week can't wait.
