Well, we are back from Weiss Lake
It was a fun trip, we didn't have the best weather the entire trip but we did have at least a day and a half of very good weather.
We caught fish and ALL of them were very good sized. The crappie at this lake are just HUGE!
We started out last Wednesday at about 3:00pm and made our first stop at Bass Pro in Clarksville, IN. Picked up a few item that we really didn't need but what the heck, I like shopping there. We drove on to Nashville, TN. and stopped at Cock of the Walk and ate dinner. It's a fish and chicken place and is visited frequently by country music stars but we didn't see any on this visit. After dinner we drove on to Monteagle and pulled over for the night.
Thursday we got up and drove on in to Weiss Lake. We got an early check in and got unloaded, launched the boat and we were fishing. We caught several nice crappie and the rest of our group (7 in all) arrived. The adults indulged in some cold drinks and played some poker while the 2 boys fished that evening.
Friday we woke at about 5:00am, made biscuits & gravy, ate it and hit the water. Everyone caught fish on Friday, the smallest crappie was about 12 inches long. We cleaned our fish at about 5:00pm and had a big fish fry that evening. Later it was cold drinks and poker....again.
Saturday was about the same as Friday except the weather started turning bad about 2:00pm. Clouds, wind and then rain.....we grilled steaks and ate like kings. Then it was more cold drinks and poker....again.
Sunday was a bust, the wind was blowing about 20-30 MPH, clouds and rain off and on and the fish quit biting. We drove around the area and visited Little River National Wildlife Refuge. Guess what we did Sunday evening...........cold drinks and poker!
Monday we got up early, packed the trucks and was out of there by 7:00 am. We drove to Nashville and made a stop at Opry Mills to visit that Bass Pro. We took our time getting home, made several stops along the way and pulled into the driveway about 8:30pm.
Overall it was a WAY better trip than last year was at Reelfoot, I was really impressed by the size of crappie we caught. I think I will re-book for next year. I also think we were a week or two early for the real good fishing, but can't complain because we really caught some nice fish.
I have pics (but not very many) I will post later.

I ate there years ago. First time I tried fried pickles. Do they still have all the business cards all over wall? Cool place, I'd eat there again.

I didn't care all that much for the beer in tin cups though. It got warm too fast and the cups were too small.
For the best steak ever try The Stockyard. Expensive, but well worth it. Try the Rooster Fries there.. stock-yardrestaurant.com/page/14jwm/Menu.html

Wife and I fished there a few years back, the week we were there they set the record for the coldest temps ever for the last week of march and we still caught crappies!! The high light of the trip was catching three stripers over 10#'s while dragging crappie jigs on ultra light gear. Had to chase em with the boat. Great fishin and very nice people down that way.
