Senior fishing licenses are now available ----------------------------------------------- Senior fishing licenses can now be purchased at most DNR property offices, sporting good stores, bait shops or online at IndianaOutdoor.IN.gov. Effective April 1, Indiana residents age 64 and older and born after March 31, 1943, will need either a $3 annual senior fishing license (which is lower than any neighboring state's fee), or a one-time $17 Fish for Life senior license when fishing Indiana’s public waters. Both licenses include trout/salmon stamp privileges. Residents born before April 1, 1943, are still exempt from needing a fishing license when fishing Indiana’s public waters. The $17 Fish for Life senior license was designed so 64-year-old resident anglers graduating into senior licenses would never have to pay more than if they bought a normal $17 annual fishing license. The Fish for Life license will be the last Indiana fishing license a Hoosier angler will ever need to purchase. Each senior fishing license sold also earns Indiana an additional $7.90 in federal money. This federal money is divided among states based on the number of fishing licenses sold, and Indiana was losing funds to states counting seniors as anglers. In 10 years, senior licenses should increase Indiana’s cut by an additional $2.3 million in annual federal money for sport fish restoration programs. The funds will also expand and maintain public access to lakes and streams throughout the state. Find a sport license vendor near you, or purchase a sport license online at: IndianaOutdoor.IN.gov. Well I tried to get them but looks like that state is not up to speed yet. I would think they would get it ready before telling us we can get them.

Called the DNR office at Patoka and they said they could get them so we went over and when they tried to get them for us they couldn't do it. Called the state and was told since we are over 65 we aren't eligible for them. To h*(( with them I'll just fish free.

I'm not near old enough to worry about this, but I am confused. Woody's post states "Effective April 1, Indiana residents age 64 and older and born after March 31, 1943, will need either a $3 annual senior fishing license...". Raporter post "Called the state and was told since we are over 65 we aren't eligible for them".
Hate to see people buying things they don't need, or getting a ticket cause they didn'y buy it.

Looks to me like if you are 64 and born after March 31, 1943 you need a license, either a "senior" fishing or a "Fish for Life" license. If you are 65 and born before April 1, 1943, then you don't need a license.
Raporter was most likely born before 4/1/43 and won't ever need one in IN again... He is being "grandfathered" through.
That's how I read it anyway. But I'm not sure how a CO could interpret differently.

Anyone born after that date and 64 and older needs to buy a senior license. Ther wont be a lot sold this year, but it will increase every year as the Baby Boomers turn of age..

Just trying to give something back.
