Went down to the polluted Wildcat Creek last night with a topwater bait and pulled in a smallie on my first cast. Started just after 8 pm and only fished for about 40 minutes and caught 4 in the first 20 minutes and then it all stopped. One was a nice 16 inches.

I caught a smallmouth (10" or so) out of the Wildcat while I was at Purdue and kept him for a year in a 55 gallon tank for a year. I named him Walter. Walter's feeding sessions were a big deal. People would come over to watch me dump crappie minnows in his tank. He was ferocious. When I graduated, I put him back in the creek exactly where I caught him (Under the bridge off exit 175) and he took off fine. Maybe he's still swimming out there.
