and no i am not talking about deer. to wet to shell corn so i decided to go hunting. went back there about 1:45 set a trail camera up on the way in. needless to say it came right back down on my way out. to get to the point i had another trail camera stolen. the second one from this spot. this camera makes three overall and two of them were locked on. it is family owned ground and we farm it. the funny thing is that after if had to take his picture he would have had to go all the way back home and come back with a set of bolt cutters to cut it off. and why doesn't he steal the whole kit and caboodle why he is back there because i have two stands 30 yards on each side of the camera for different winds. this kind of stuff just pi**** me off pretty bad. i hope i run into this guy one of these days. i know he is using my stands cause the one had mud on the bottom step and i haven't been back there in two weeks or more. so when i go to Illinois in november im going to take the bottom four steps off of the one and leaving a nice note for him

THat is a bunch of BS man, sorry to hear about that...Unstrap the stand from the tree but leave it leaned up and when the piece of chit starts to climb up....whooooooops! Ouch.
Maybe thats not too good an idea, but serves the poacher/thief right.

Sounds like you need to put another camera about 15-20 feet up in another tree, facing your stands. Turn off the flash so as to not attract attention, and you will catch him!

All of this on your own property i would do some investigating. I have alot of places i would like to put my camera but i know who is in the area and i am afraid to put it out.

Yeah...danf has the right idea........ take a ladder or use a stand to get it out of reach... Trail cams can be very effective tools in catching thieves and trespassers!

i'd loosen the top few steps.
set a nail, needle, something sharp up under the seat cushion.
Use duct tape, strip it along everywhere their hands may touch going up the tree, and dap anti-seize all over the duct tape.
I HATE trespassers, escpecially when they have enough balls to steal ur crap, and set in your stand.

I hate nothing worse than a thief. They should be sent straight to the gallos.I have had a few guns taken out of my truck and a few stands stolen, like a few days before gun season came in.I think that was the worst year I have ever had.I learned real quick not to keep stuff in my truck and keep it locked up,even if it's in front of my house.

hopefully they can be caught the good thing about the area buckeater is talking about there is pretty light hunting pressure so not a lot of possible thiefs, pretty much find out who is back there and he has found out who is stealing

Hopefully you can nail him and get your stuff back.
To all of you that think setting trap that can injure the thief is a good idea - think again. Setting a booby trap wont go well with a judge if the thief decides to sue and odds are he will.
There is precedent on that.

Pretty obvious you have a lot of support from the guys here-what a lowlife, stealing your gear, and actually hunting from YOUR stand? How much nerve can people have? I agree having a surprise cam around to get photos would be the best-let him try to deny the pic.
