So my boyfriend and I went to Driftwood at the crack of dawn this morning to kick off the "season opener" with a bunch of fish to have for lunch today...I got a nice crappie on my very first cast and neither of us had any bites the rest of the morning, so I "skonked" him with my one fish. He said that he thought the fish weren't biting because of the rain washing all of the food into the pond, so instead of fresh fish, I'm having to eat leftover Chinese food and he's having to eat deer meat tacos. We actually saw more ducks than fish this morning! Hope others have better luck today!

Just got back from Greene Sullivan area. Did pretty good on the crappie, gills and redears. got a nice mess for the freezer, (26) good crappie and (19) big redear and bluegill. Crappie are spawning now and pretty easy to get, if you can find some good submerged timber in the right conditions. Lakes are warming up unusually fast this spring, most of them had surface temps of 60 degrees or more.

In 59 years I've done a fair bit of fishing. My experience is that a fish on the first cast is not a good sign! But it's always good to get out, especially with good company. parson
