Sunday morning I was lucky enough to kill another Doe with my new found recurve. I had decided to take another Doe to help with my confidence for when Mr. Big steps out ! I'm like n it !!! Right at day light I look behind me and she is coming in on the trail I walked in on. I thought she was going to smell me but the rubber boots did the trick. She walked right in, causiously but steadly and I stuck her at a huge....8 yards ! Even I can make those shot most of the time. Muzzy's baby ! Bad to the bone !

Well done-and it`s amazing that you can do that with a recurve-the compounds make shooting them nearly fool-proof, and I still find a way to mess it up usually. The recurves have to be so difficult.
Good shootin`, and that will be some very fine venison.

That is a very fine doe and done the "hard way" too.
Rubber boots for me too. LaCrosse Alpha Burleys..

My congratulations too.
But, is that an unhooded Kwickee quiver on your recurve?
If so PLEASE get a hooded one.

Way to go, man. I haven't been able to hunt much and have struck out consistently when I went. Good to see a success story.

Nice doe! 3Rivers archery sells little leather hoods for broadheads. Maybe you can find one that will fit your Muzzys? Congrats! Here is a link to 3Rivers, and a link to a nice, cheap, recurve quiver. www.3riversarchery.com/ListProduct.asp?offset=22

Thanks for the link. I don't see the hoods your talking about though? The hood that came with the quickie clips onto one of the arrows and is loose and makes a lot of noise. This Wing recurve is old enough that it doesn't have any AMO holes in it and I'm not going to drill any !

The quiver slides over the limbs. No holes.

Good Job Hunter7X,
But please listen to pbr's advice. That can be pretty dangerous. One of the better quivers for a recurve are the Great Northern Quivers. They strap on, so you don't have to drill any holes in your bow. They are also very quiet, sturdy, and safe. They are a little expensive though. Three Rivers carry these as well.
Sometimes I see the original Wing quivers on ebay, but I believe they mounted to inserts on the limbs of the bow.
Good Luck finding one and congrats on the deer.
Robert

I have those too Woody, great boots!
I have a Selway quiver that slips onto the limbs of my recurve. I think it was $60 or $80 I can't remember now, but it does well.

Thanks guys I will get another one. I hate buying things without seeing them first and couldn't find anyone with one I could put my hands on. The quickie was the only one I could find. Like I said the hood that came with it clips onto one of the arrows and is loose and makes noise when you shoot with it. Makes me all warm and fuzzy to think you all are worried about me !!!

Very nice, I too always wear rubbers and I am learning the recurve. I picked one up last spring and have done some shooting but not near enough to hunt with, maybe next year.
Way to go ;D
