The Department of Natural Resources' Go FishIN education program is offering a free workshop on August 27 at Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation in Carmel. The workshop runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go FishIN workshops are for Hoosiers interested in using sport fishing to teach youngsters about resource conservation. "Go FishIN teaches beginner anglers all they need to know to take kids fishing," said Go FishIN coordinator Amanda Wuestefeld. "And expert anglers will learn activities that teach kids aquatic ecology, fish biology, and outdoor ethics." The program offers textbooks, loaner educational equipment and fishing equipment for volunteers to use in their community. Go FishIN fits easily into elementary, middle and high school classes, including biology, chemistry, math, language arts and social studies. Workshops are offered at various Indiana locations throughout the year. Class sizes are limited and reservations are required. For information, reservations and workshop dates, contact the DNR's Natural Resources Education Center at 317-562-1338 or: www.in.gov/dnr/nrec/Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation www.ci.carmel.in.us/Parks/

hey woody, i highly recommend these go-fishin work shops i"ve been involved in this program for several years and the results are really great, there"s so many young folks that never had a fishing pole in there hands, we use this program in schools ,nwtf (jakes day) and the local boys and girls club. the educaters are amanda wuesterfeld and jan hosier and they are just the right people to get the education to the go fish-in crew captains, this really helps pass down a lifetime of enjoyment to our next generation.just a win -win situation, a a+ rating and thanks for promoting the program. jim campbell- turkey scout
