You have often stated that there are a few days in November that are your favorite to be in the woods, I know you have a post lately that you mentioned it again.
I can't find it - Care to share again?
Thanks

I can't find it - Care to share again? Thanks Gee, Dan. I don't remember exactly what I posted in the past word for word but - IMHO - The rut in southern Indiana will peak about November 10th plus or minus 3 or 4 days. I prefer to archery hunt the pre rut and catch the big guys out looking instead of chasing. It is tough enough to get a gun shot at a chasing buck much less an arrow. Big bucks are more suscetible to calling/rattling at that time too. So the witching day is it. October 31 through the end of the rut which I believe will be about the 22th of November. If I was taking vacation time those are the three weeks I would take. In fact Woodmaster has taken just that. If I had only one week it would be the first week in November -pre-rut. IT is about to happen.

I know last year about a week before gun came in the bucks were moving like crazy. I got my 8 pointer the Thursday before gun season started and on that hunt I saw 3 nice mature bucks. I would say my favorite days to hunt are from now until Thanksgiving weekend.
Of course any day out in the woods deer hunting is a favorite ;D

The first 14 days of November is it for me. Of course that is bow only.
The firearms season starts just as the rut is winding down. There might be some big bucks still cruising for late blooming does, but they will be sparse.
I'd like to see the Indiana DNR adjust the gun season to coincide with the rut just as Kentucky does.

I'd like to see Indiana add a "sling-shot season" for those bucks that make it past late-archery... ;D

Anytime from now until the latter part of November is good.
Pre-rut is starting to kick in now.
I'm seeing more buck movements and countless scrapes being made.
Buck kill numbers will go up for bowhunters as the gun season comes in almost post rut.
