Been keeping an eye on these guys that bought the old Dellen/ imi pits 500 acres (entirely within the floodway of White River). I never reckoned that it would be any more than primitive camping and pay lakes. Article about the campground was in the Johnson Co. Daily Journal yesterday, it has been pushed through Johnson County BZA for a special variance use for a campground with 6 conditions. One of the conditions is DNR approval! Anyone here that is close to the higher ups at DNR needs to keep an eye on this one. It would be a shame to see roads and utilities constructed in the floodway that close to indy. Hope it doesn't get pushed through, it could be dangerous!

No link on the paper website. Developer is calling it "Bluff Creek Campground", 400+ sites. It is in the Northwest corner of Johnson Co. where Bluff Creek meets White River, West of sr37. I'm sure some of you know the IMI pits area, there. Be interesting to see if this slips through the cracks at DNR (it shouldn't). Thought that some that live/own in that area might be concerned with the additional flooding and loss of habitat it could cause.
