I wrote about this on the turkey board but i didn't get much response so here it is again.
On properties that are draw hunt only for turkeys it states in the regulations that you must cease hunting at noon and be out of the woods by 1 PM. With Indiana moving the clock up one hour this fall the draw hunters lost one hour of daylight to hunt turkeys.
In 2005 they had approximately 6 1/2 hours of legal hunting time and this year it was around 5 1/2 hours with the time change.
The DNR moved the check in time up one hour to 5:30AM but didn't extend the quiting time one hour.
My question is will hunters on these properties get back the hour they lost? Will the DNR change the quiting time to 1:00 PM in 2007?
Does any one know if this has been discussed in any meetings?
What do you guys think? h.h.

HH,
I got this information back from Mark Reiter who oversees the IDNR FWA Property operations.
He said – “ Woody-
Hunting on our properties for turkeys this year was from one-half hour before sunrise until noon on properties in the central time zone and one-half hour before sunrise until 1 pm on properties in the eastern time zone.
Thanks”

ww,
i wasn't drawn this year so maybe the dnr sent this time change to the people that got drawn with their paper work. there was a notice in the news paper about the properties that you had to check in at they changed the time from 4:30 am to 5:30 am but nothing about extending the quiting time.
looks like they have taken care of this. thanks WW, h.h.

I mentioned this at the NRC meeting yesterday. Mark Reiter wasn't there but the Enforcement guys all said it was taken care of.
