When does this need to be decided by? I really hope it does go through... I believe this is for May. Hopefully that will be in time to get it in effect for this coming season. There is about a half dozen of us on here that watch this stuff pretty closely. The other guys more than me, but one of us will catch it and post it up when and where to give your input.

I just got my copy of the draft propsal and it is as I said it was..
Basically the IDNR is proposing to allow the use of pistol cartridge rifles and will do away with the rifle cartridge handguns.
I'm still digesting the rest of the proposal......more later..

Marlin makes some nice lever actions too.. I own a Ruger M-77/.44 Mag. that I use, a couple of Deer season in Kentucky. I would love to have the chance to use it here in Indiana for Deer, something besides targets and varmints. My T/C Black Diamond M/L will fire a .452"/250 grain bullet at some 1,800 FPS. My Ruger M-77/.44 will fire a 240 grainer at 1,750 FPS. Really not that much difference in Velocity or power when compairing the two. Just makes sense to let us use propery powered Pistol Cartridges in Rifles for Deer in Indiana.

Woody, I just came from the "Other" Indiana Hunting Forum, and some are already "Poo-Pooing" the idea of allowing the use of Traditional Handgun Cartridges in Rifles.: No surprise. I'm sure that there will be hunters on both sides of the issue on ALL boards..... This, as well as the doing away with the rifle cartridge handguns, will get controversial before it is over.

Winchester won't be making too many more 94s as I understand it.

I consider ANY Deer Hunter, who would not support the use of these triditional handgun cartridges in rifle, a little bit "leaning" toward anti-gun and anti-Hunting. It is interesting to note that many of these "Hunters" are using those single shot Rifle cartridge firing Savage Strickers and T/C Encores, not to mention those Savage "Smokeless" powder firing M/L's.

The 35 Rem. was ok in pistol but not in a rifle.

Dragon - I noticed that too... just another addition to the long list of contradictory Indiana hunting regs...
I'm still looking for a good used M48 tank for use on groundhogs... "any equipment at any time..." ;D
