That thread on extended deer hunting got me thinking. What we really need is an extended goose season.
In the north zone, our goose season always wraps up around Christmas. Unfortunately, that is just when it generally starts getting cold enough to make for some good hunting. We get a couple good hunts in at the tail end of season, then "bang!" it's over.
If there was ever a critter population that could stand some thinning down, the Candian goose is it. We ought to be able to hunt those sky carp all through January.

A lot of goose hunters would agree. We get to hunt them till end of Jan here in the south zone and many times we have the same thing happen, the last 5 days are usually money in the bank if you have a decent place. There has been some rumors about extending another nusance season into Feb. but due to high turnover of the waterfowl biologist possition it has had a rough time to my understanding. MI and PA have a late nusance season so it is possible, but we need a biologist with the state that can submit the proper figures to the Feds in order to make the change.

Shoot, you guys should hunt here. I'm in the SJBJ zone. We end on December 7th! We need a January goose season to get the numbers in check. I'd hunt all January if allowed. We are usually polluted with geese here in January and no one can hunt them.

THat SUCKS big time, my bro-n-law lives and hunts in that messed up area (Laport Co). It really sucks duck hunting up there when you have geese all over.

duff, I agree with you 100%, in the south zone we need a week or 10 day's in Feb, then we could put the hurt on them. Lately the last 3-5 days is the best.
