They could extend it through the end of Febuary and it won't have any impact. Generaly, it's just too cold to be out there sitting for hours on end, and folks won't do it. Therefore, you can't use the herd reduction "argument" to get this passed. It's also going to be a tough sell for the additional "recreation" days, since bowhunters already have from Sept. 15 on to get their recreation in. How about if they use the same argument that crossbow proponents use for adding the crossbow into early archery......."additional oppurtunity"? You can't ever have enough oppurtunity right? What's good for the goose ought to be good enough for the gander eh Camby? Don't get your shorts in a twist....just messing with you. Although, I do find it puzzling how you can use the added oppurtunity stance in your arguments for the crossbow, but strike the additional oppurtunity argument down in this instance. Would it make a difference to you if the crossbow was included in this extension of bow season?

danb, I ain't against it!! I just think it would be a tough sell. I don't think it would be utilized due to weather conditions and the fact that MOST folks are done deer hunting by the end of December. The LATE SEASON **IS** Crossbow Season....so why would crossbows not be included in the extension of the season? Heck, I'm all for it......I just don't think it's very realistic.

I think you did,
Heck, they could allow archery deer hunting YEAR ROUND, and it would not have a negetive impact on the herd....but it's not very realistic that they would allow it.
Folks always seem to throw these suggestions around without any foundation or biological reason to back it up.
Over on Bowsite they are talking about moving guns out of November....WHY?
Or starting the firearm season a week later....again...WHY?
I personally think the GOAL should be to get MORE folks hunting MORE often in the already established times of the season.
Allowing folks more choices and a better effort toward recruitment is the path we should be traveling.
