Hell, there is no such thing as a "safe" anything in today's litigous society. If anything it's a marvel that a tool designed to kill things has a lower incident of accidental injury than automobiles or swimmingpools which are not designed to kill anything. Thanks for proving my point. Even with all our slob hunters we're still the safest group in society.

Reason usually takes a backseat to emotion on this issue and most others in the realm of hunting. Hunters should know better but all too many among us do not believe in personal responsibility, are scared to death of what the next hunter one hill over may or may not do, and want the government to legislate everything so that no one hunts differently than them, lest they be offended.
Maybe, just maybe, reason has a chance on this one. I sure hope so.

Well my son and I got a first hand look at "hunter responsibility". Hunting Camp Atterbury Friday (forget the VP was going to be down there). Side note: I love this country, VP is basically next door and I can still walk around with a loaded gun. Anyways we found beer cans and bottles all over the place. Never mind the littering ... what about the drinking and guns mix. These cans were still fresh so I know these were discarded recently. Chances are some of it was maybe kids; but, good chance some of it were left by hunters.

If Pelosi, Sara Brady, the Kennedy's, the Klinton's, etc get their way you will not have to worry about what firearm to use.
As for rifles, I would not mind the good old 30-30, and would really like to see the 45 long colt be leagleized. That way I can use my cowboy rifle.
