Took a little cruise out around my hunting area before dark tonight, and spotted a real nice buck about 150 yards off the road. Backed up and glassed him for a few minutes before a car came along and he dived in the corn.
He was a good, solid, approx. 18-19" wide eight point with good tine length and mass, proably 125 class. A big fat bruiser too. Not a bad buck for these parts. Most all of his velvet was off, but looked like a little bit still remained.

An 8-pointer that is 18"-19" wide with good tine length and mass should go a bit more than 125 , probably into the 130s if he is fairly even! Good luck getting him.

saw four bucks yesterday (marion county) sept. 9(bachelor group) there was one ten pointer with no velvet , first one for me , these bucks useually hang around til two other bigger bucks( high rack twelve pointer with a kicker and a wide rack twelve) anyway they meet . there also some does around. the bigger bucks wait til dark before they show them self. i"m seeing these deer from the road. if it was cooler i would go to owen county and squirrel hunt and scout .i guess i"ll wait til oct. opening weekend. have a good day turkey scout

Just got in from bush hog mowing out back. Saw quite a few, brand new, fresh rubs on saplings.
The velvet is off, and the boys are starting to feel their oats.
