Twenty-two years ago on January 28th, the space shuttle Challenger was destroyed after a catastrophic O-ring failure. Where were you when you heard the news?
I was in the Navy going through nuclear power school in Orlando, Florida. We got out of class to watch the launch and actually saw the explosion but didn't realize what had happened until the news reports started coming in. The cloud stayed in the sky all day long.

I was in 4th grade at Jackson Township Elementry. Teacher announced it to us after lunch like she personally knew the victims. She then brought in a B&W TV so we could watch the news reports.

I was working where I still am now, went out to lunch at the Ice House and when I walked in they had it showing on all the TV's in the place; first I knew of it. Very shocking.

Old dude here. I was working as normal to feed & cloth my curtain climbers. Very tragic event for all involved. I always think about the civilian lady teacher that was so pumped & looking forward to the mission.

At work, Probably heard it from someone that had a radio. Did not get to watch anything until got home and turned on the television. I remember that pretty young teacher with the big smile tossing up an apple befor getting on that thing. Also felt bad for her grade school class that the scummy media exploited.

I was 3.5 years old when it happened, so I don't remember anything related to it, although of course I've heard about it. Sad--prayers for all that were involved and their families.
