In fact that is likely my next caliber for it, but the 7-08 just keeps speaking to me. I own or have owned every diameter from .223 to .308 except 2; .284 and .257. I'm feeling less than complete! although the 7mm's are pretty close to the 30 calibers so the 25-06 is attractive as well and the kid I hung around with in school had a Mauser converted to that caliber that was really fun to take out and shoot. I guess I just am not going to be able to stop with one more. 260, 7-08, 25-06...................ah where to begin!
Actually I had decided unless the Firecat really tripped my trigger I was going to set up a complete barrel/scope assembly for the Encore; in 260.

I'm partial to a 25-06 myself. I really like that caliber. I see several deer hunting videos of guys using the 25-06 and all the deer just drop right in their tracks. That being said the 260 Remington has some serious BC with bullets close to .50 which make it a very long range and accurate. Another one is the 6.5-06. I'm doubting you could go wrong with any of these calibers. Decisions, decisions......h.h.

Agreed, the bullet designs of the 6.5's make it hard go anywhere else when you're looking in that neightborhood. You're right you can't go wrong with any of them. It really comes down to what do you want to play with next!
I was thinking about all the dies & components I have for calibers I don't currently own. One I'm particularily fat in is 6mmREM; that's a possibility as well.

I put a barrel in 6mm on order for the Encore today; now I have to decide what to put on it for glass - I'm leaning towards the T/C 2.5x7 variable.
