OK Here are things I could do: 1. My Cougar, while a fine bow, is 6-7 yrs old and I could buy myself some increase in performance by replacing it. 2. The scope on my 35 Whelen is serviceable but not as good at low light and does not have the clarity of say a Leupold VXIII so I could upgrade there. 3. The Encore is a 30-06 and a 260 or 7-08 probably makes more sense for a deer round and besides multiple calibers for them are just fun. I know what I'm thinking but I was bored and I got to thinking, I wonder what all of you would do first.

Definately a new barrel. Too many to choose from though. Bows loose value WAY too fast, besides, for the price of a new bow, you can get TWO custom barrels, and maybe a decent scope to boot! ;D Send some money my way--- I'll spend it FOR you!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You mean 3/4 of a grad school credit isn't an option??? At least having $500 to spend isn't much of a problem! Have fun!

If I receive anything, I am going to place it in one of my money market fund. In other words ~save it~.

I voted for buying a new bow..... but I am a bow hunter above all other forms... so my opinion is biased.... the only problem with the new bow idea... is that with prices the way they are... you would have to dig in to your pocket to be able to afford most any of the big name bows on the market....

I see the voting is getting close.... Just remember, you have a bow already, one that is very functional. I enjoy bowhunting as much as the next guy, but there's a whole 'nother world of ballistics you haven't experienced yet! ;D ;D ;D Wonder how many of those that voted "bow" have actually shot a T/C...?

Forget the barrel. Get a complete new rifle. Crazy ... but you can get a nice rifle for the price of a bow.

Well, the archer in me says new bow. But, the reality is, a new barrel for your gun would "age" a lot slower. Bows tend to feel dated a lot quicker than any gun. (Though this is often more perception than reality) So that's how I voted. It wasn't in the options, but the "mother hen" in me wants to ask you if you have a savings account. If you do, you might wanna put it there. If you do not have one-- and please do not be insulted, as a huge percentage of Americans do not have one--- you might want to start one. I know, I'm getting old.

Dave,
You know come to think about it maybe you should get the 260 Remington barrel and that way I could shoot your reloads when we meet up at the range. Kind of save mine....lol h.h.
