Watching the weather reports and hoping that everyone on here is OK. I know that it sure got nasty real quick here but it looks like it was worse in the southern part of the state. We just have wind and blowing snow now.

I froze my arse off covering the storms & wind tonight for the news. I was NOT ready for the wind-chill like what we had around Indy. My fingers are still tingling and I've been inside for over an hour now. BRRRRRRR...... We saw some pretty good damage in Western Marion County....everything I saw looked like straight-line winds, no twisting like what a good 'nado does. We had some video coming in from Elwood when I was about to leave, it looks like there was a trailer park that got hit really bad.....some flipovers and such. I know 2 people died down in Posey County. This is still January right?

I probably shouldn't have gone to shoot archery league last night...... But I did anyway. One of the guys there lives near me and said his truck thermometer dropped from 56 to 41 degrees between his house and the bow shop. He got there right after I did at 6:45. When I left at 9:30, not only was it cold (I'm guessing lower 20's or upper teens), I about couldn't get my truck door open due to the ice! Part of my drive home I was in 4wd due to US 36 being a sheet of ice. And I'm not one to use 4wd at the first flake of snow either! My wife just called and said the roads were just fine this morning though. Got home last night to 1/2 of a hackberry tree down (Dad- it's the big one down in the pasture that had the nasty split in it), fortunately I didn't see anything down around the house. Aside from the bad weather, I shot my best score of the year last night! ;D

It rained and blew here last night around 7PM or so but around 11PM the wind blew 40+ mph for quite a while. It blew so hard it shook my house a couple times. h.h.

I've only seen wind that strong once before, it was during a hurricane in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Wow!

Here in Northern Vanderburgh County, we just received some strong winds and .10" of rain. Also had a 30 degrees drop in temps. in about two hours. It's clear & cold, but very little wind this morning, when I went on my one mile daily walk.

Storm got the power for 14 hours, lack of power allowed the pipes to freeze then burst...... I've had better days to say the least

Nothing too serious happened here yesterday. If you consider something happened to the electric coming in to the house. Heat pump, cook stove, washer, dryer, dishwasher, 1/2 of the electric plug in did not even have enough juice to run appliances. Luckily the puter was on a good one (well I think so anyway).
Tell you what folks All of you sit back and think about how really prepared you are for electrical outages. Do you have good batteries for flash lights and camping lanterns, do you have a can of Coleman type fuel for that Coleman stove, light. How about that little propane one? Got gas? Auxiliary heat source? Wood stove or Kerosene heaters?

Yep, I'll be fine for a while if need be- we've got a gas generator sitting in the garage. Don't have the hook-up to run it into the house panel, but we've got plenty of extension cords! We heat with a wood stove, so I don't have to worry about a furnace not running.

Have a Coleman 2 burner stove that we have actually used once to make dinner during a power loss. Have gas logs for emergency heat.

I read in the paper this morning that four people were killed in Posey County. I hope it wasnt any of our members or their familys. h.h.

I read in the paper this morning that four people were killed in Posey County. I hope it wasnt any of our members or their familys. h.h. I think it was only two people that lost their lives in the storm, H.H.. Their mobil home simply blew over and rolled over several times.
