I've been seeing a lot of starlings in big flocks lately. This nasty one, containing many hundreds of birds, landed in the front yard. Some landed in the maple out back, however, and they soon had a talk with Mr. Mossberg. Four did not make it back.

BTW. open your choke and go with #8 or 9's.... you should increase your kill ratio by about 40%..

Yeah, at least. My single shot with a modified choke was out of reach. All that was available was the Mossberg 500 turkey gun. I just pick a tight sitting group of starlings and go for it. I got ten the other day. Death to the flying rats!

My father lives in the city of Ft Wayne and there was a small wooded area behind his house. Every fall millions of black birds would roost in the trees in the wooded area. Each morning and evening they would leave and come back flying over his house. They left so much waste he had to wash his house and cars and it became a health issue for the city. This happen for 4-5 years and the city finally cut all the trees in the wooded area so they wouldn't have a place to roost. The birds left and never returned. h.h.
