New Senior Fishing License begins in April for anglers, age 64 and older
Beginning April 1, 2008, residents age 64 and older and born after March 31, 1943 will need to purchase a senior fishing license to fish in Indiana public waters. Anglers will have the choice of purchasing a yearly $3 senior fishing license or a one-time $17 Fish for Life senior license. The licenses will be made available only to those who meet the criteria to purchase a senior license.
With the purchase of each senior fishing license, Indiana will receive an additional $7.90 of federal money to be used for sport fish restoration programs as well as expanding and maintaining public access to lakes and streams throughout the state. Based on the number of anglers who purchased fishing licenses last year, the state could gain an estimated $43,000 in federal funds for 2008.
