Whats your opinion on Tony Dungy?
I have heard several folks recently state they can't wait till he leaves. He's got some of the best talent in the NFL under him yet he always seems to make an early exit from the playoffs.
I guess it's a case of "what can you do for me TODAY"

Unfortunately for us (fortunately for him, I guess), I believe he is going to retire. He's definitely a class act--technically, as a person, and otherwise--that will be difficult to follow. I don't think that the Colts' losses in the playoffs are necessarily due to the actions of any one person, and they've been an excellent team the past few years. I hope that if Dungy retires, they are able to come somewhat close to replacing him well (although this will be impossible).

IMO, Dungy is the least important piece of the Colts puzzle. He is a great coach ..... but Manning and the offensive coordinator are more important.
The Colts are one of those unique teams that can have a mediocre defense and still compete with anyone in the league.
Dungy came to Indianapolis with a reputation as a defensive genius ....... but it has been Manning and the offense that has been their signature.
I hate to see him go but he will not be hard to replace. The Colts actually have a coaches dream situation ..... marquee QB, great city, great fans, new stadium .... there will be quality applicants lining up.

I think Dungy is a great coach and person as well. I hope he doesn't retire, but I sure can't blame him if he does. I think he will stay another year, but I really hope he doesn't retire and then later decide to coach another team. I have his book "Quiet Strength" and really enjoyed it. According to Polian, when Dungy retires, they have already decided on who the next head coach will be (Jim Caldwell) www.colts.com/sub.cfm?page=article7&news_id=3c64f6ff-4012-4e99-8eb2-cbaed6d2254e

I have to think that is the reason Caldwell removed his name from the Atlanta search. If he is gone, thanks for the ride coach you were a breath of fresh air.

I think that T. D. is going to call it quits for a couple of years. At least until this son graduates from high school and goes to college. I have a feeling that the death of the older one weighs heavily on his mind and heart. I know it would mine. As for the Colts he has taken them to a joke to one of the most respected teams in the league. Defensive injuries are what lost for the Colts this year. They need a good backup at defensive end and in my opinion another big fast linebacker.

I guess it's a case of "what can you do for me TODAY" Always makes an early exit from the playoffs? Didn't he coach the winner of the Super Bowl a year ago? Man, we have short memories. I hope he stays. He is a classy individual and I think there is a "trickle-down" effect, if you will, through the whole team. Think of the difference between a team led by a person like Dungy vs. a team led by someone like, say, Isaiah Thomas. Oddly enough, I think his morals are what some people dislike about him.

He's gone. It looks to have a lot to do with what happened to his other son. Too bad, Indiana is a better place for the young man than Tampa, for sure. It is hard to blame him for wanting to be a big part of his kids lives.

I think he's done but I can honestly say it's time for a change. Yes, TD led us to a Super Bowl last year but look at Tony's track record. He's had two groups with great talent that have grossly underperformed. When Gruden took over the Dungy squad in Tampa Bay, they won a Super Bowl. TD's done a lot for this city but I think it's time for a new face.
