www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.aspHonestly, I was unaware that you are supposed to hold your hand over your heart during the National Anthem. I have always removed my hat and stood with my hands clasped much like he is doing in this picture. This is how 99.9% of the people I have observed during the National Anthem have done it as well. I guess a Presidential hopeful should know better but I sure didnt.

Look around at any football, baseball, racing event when the National Anthem is played and that will tell you what mainstream America is supposed to be doing while it is played-don't need any liberal trying to tell me otherwise!

NO. Don't look at football or baseball... NASCAR would be a good example though. ;D There's enough rednecks that still know what the national anthem means there! ;D

I asked my dad about this .... he is also near 60 and a Vietnam vet. He says a person in uniform should salute only when "under cover" .... when asked what the heck that means he said "only when wearing your uniform hat".
He said you are supposed to place your hand over your heart when not in uniform but that most he has observed, including himself, usually stand with their hands either in front of them or behind them.
I told him that I had always just done as I had seen him do and stood with my hands clasped in front of me.

I have to admit I thought it was a joke when I saw it. I guess I gave ol' Bearsack too much credit. Regardless of whether or not he "knew" to put his hand over his heart (and he should have), everyone around him, including Hillary, was doing it!!! What a hypocritical pathetic piece of [4-letter word]!! He just looks stupid and "spaced out" in the picture. He doesn't deserve to be president, but I fear HH's prior predictions may, unfortunately, come true...

I think a lot of the hands clasped, at side, behind back has came from different sporting events. Where players from other nations just stand quiet and respectfully. Watch most of your players at a football game, they just stand there, Cheerleaders hold each others hands (solidarity). Remember when players put their hands over their heart and cheerleaders did a kind of salute with their right hands parallel to the ground over the heart and ridged like a military salute.
