I think it is finally hitting. Our phones at work haven't been working this morning.

Do you remember all of the profiteers at the Indy 1500 right before y2k? Mountainhouse freeze dried food, Ammo through the roof, $125 Glock clips, $60 AR clips........ Some people made a ton of money on fear during this period of time.

that was funny back then,,never ceased to amaize me how people that would walk around bragging how smart they were and couldn`t be fooled baught into that scare hook line and sinker,, and the most that did buy into it were people with ALOT of money,,lol. The terrorists don`t have to bomb and kill people here to strike complete devastation to the USA,,just knock out the cell phones and internet servers and the cable and phone lines and this country would come to a dead halt,,lol

I was camping in the UP of Michigan the fall of 1999 and went into town to the local laundry to wash some clothes one afternoon. There was one other person there and we chatted while our laundry was going and she told me she and her husband had bought a older car without a PC in it so they would be able to drive when all the other PC cars wouldn't work. she said they spent several thousands of dollars on food and other things so when the world crashed from y2k they could go one living a normal life.
i told all that was silly and nothing was going to happen but she still didn't believe me. i still laugh today when i think of it. h.h.

I got to work O.T. that night. Think I had to go in about 10:00 P.M. and did not get off until about 2:00 A.M. Got a coffee cup, plastic cup and a plastic clock. The plastic clock fell apart in about a month, the plastic cup may still be around in some shed or the garage, still have the coffee cup though.

Yup I can't tell you how much we spent on Y2K programming fixes. 99% was to do with billing. Think about it ... how would you like to get a bill for 100 years worth of usage. Now I heard things like water pumps stopping, etc. Why would a water pump care what date it was? 2038 is another date to worry about .. it you care to. It has to do with how UNIX systems calculates dates. So hurry up and start your Y2+38 plans.

I remember all of the hype, strategic planning, and revised work schedules that were put into play at work in case all of our computer systems straight-lined @ 12:01. Oh well, the OT was good!
