I've also seen some using a five gallon bucket full of feed suspended from a branch. The feeder ends up looking like an upside down butter churn. When the deer brush the wooden stick hanging out of the bucket, feed falls out.

I made a couple of gravity feeders out of 8"PVC pipe and wired them to trees. I had corn in them and the birds got most of the feed so I quit using them. h.h.

Looks like for about 80 bucks I can get everything. I am getting two of everything except the PVC pipe is why. The bottom piece is the most costly the Y for the bottom is 22 bucks.

I made 2 of them last night. I was done in 15 minutes including painting. I asked if they had some damaged PVC and they did and I dont it for free. So I ended up putting 70 bucks in the projuect and got 2 feeders. They guy loading me up made them before also with great luck he said.
