Why can't we discuss certian things on this site?
If a statement is made somewhere else, and the general public has an opportunity to read that statement without having to join or sign up for anything, then I think the statement is and should be open for discussion.
I'm NOT talking about discussing the *how you feel about certian people*, I'm talking about discussing the facts or non facts regarding statements.
**IF** someone said that allowing the use of bonus permits in October will reduce opportunity in November......why could we not discuss that STATEMENT?
**IF** someone said that allowing the use of PCR's during the general gun season, will lead to the legalization of ceossbows in October, why can't we discuss that statement?
I know that all hunters don't have the same look on things, if someone makes a statement on how they feel about a certian subject in regards to hunting, and makes that statement on a public message board, then I think the content of that statement should be open for discission on any board.
Who was it that recently made a statement about what guns should be allowed for hunting and what guns shouldnt......that subject was discussed on just about every hunting message board in the USA.....and the maker of that statement (opinion) paid a heavy price for making his opinion known.
I don't beleive that a persons position in a group, organization or their employment should exclude any statement they make from open discussion.
When the elected official in Marion County makes a statement that shooting firearms in Marion County is dangerous and should be outlawed......WE DISCUSSED IT! .....And no one attacked the elected official!!!!

I do believe the problem you seem to have is understanding this is not a Publicly owned message board but a private one open to members only to post. Being that it is up to the owner of this board to make the call on what is and is not allowed. If you do not agree with the subjects posted / topics discussed being it's a private owned message board then don't post topics or make replys...It is as simple as that.

We can civilly discuss just about anything that we want to.
As I told you in a PM, this forum will not be used by someone to just to get at someone else - member or not.
Your original question on PCRs and Crossbows was valid, but it wasn't just about that was it?
Now, if you have question about how ths board is run, then you need to PM me or one of the other moderators instead of posting in the open forum.

It sure was about that!
There has been several comments made by several different folks in relation to "how the crossbow folks got PCR's passed as a test run for crossbow expansion"
My original question was:
Does anybody know anything about it?
and
Do you think it's true?
I did give an example of where I read that at and in fact another poster joined in on this board and had the same opinion. I also received a PM from another poster from this board that ALSO had the same opinion.
I did see that you Woody, put a post up on the locked thread, explaining your position on that statement.......
The fact that a certian person says something should not mean that it's automatic that the statement should not be discussed.
All sporting groups and their positions get talked about on all the message boards, Beagle Dog Owners, High Fence Owners, Bowhunting Groups, Coon Dog Owners, Quail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, the list goes on and on.

Anybody can state anything they want to and present it as true. For this reason, especially considering the source, I think it is a textbook case of blowing smoke. The diehard xbow crowd could care less about firearms of any ilk IMO. When people point fingers they hope nobody is looking at them.

I locked the thread to begin with because it was deteriorating quickly. It isn't always the fault of the thread starter so there is no need to take things personally when a thread is moved. I was off to an evening meeting and no other moderators were about at the time. The plan was to unlock the thread again the following morning, which Hornharvester did.

It may in fact have been a case of blowing smoke, however it has been read and taken to heart by,........who knows how many? Heck.....anybody can post anything......but I sure don't think we should ever say......well we aint gonna talk about that because so and so said it.

First, this is indeed a public board, not private. Just like almost all the other boards. You do not need to be a member to read anything posted here, but only to reply or start a new thread. Until such time as you have to log in to view it, it is still 'open to the public'.
As has been stated here several times, ALMOST anything can be discussed here as long as it remains civil. Woody has the call here, and it isn't an easy call to make for various reasons. I am guessing almost everyone can understand that.
Now, my PERSONAL opinion, for good or bad, is that just because there IS friction between the two admins should not by itself mean everything said or claimed by either of them is off limits for discussion. I may be in the minority here, who knows, but if you are making claims on any board viewable by John Q Public, your claims are open for examination and debate. And as I stated, a great many view these boards who are not members every single day. And when the claims being made include you, me and several others who have crossed corners on the PCR debate, I think addressing them is 100% acceptable, whether you do it here or there. Some of us, myself included, don't bother with 'there' because our posts are deleted or edited when they show too clearly that someone is lying. Or talking about something they really have no actual knowledge of. But I think it is 100% fair play to address the validity of ANY remarks/claims being made on ANY publicly viewable board, and especially if those remarks/claims are false and being directed at others. Or, at the very least, to ask for evidence to support the claims being made.
That is my take on it, for what it's worth.

Dude hunting is supposed to be about having fun and enjoyment. It's not about what gun or bow you use. It's about having fun. What you find fun to use in the field may not necessarily be what I find fun to use in the field. What does it matter to you what I use, I could care less what you use. I venture to say whatever you use will kill your deer just as dead as whatever I choose to use will kill mine. Heck if you want to use a howitzer I don't care as long as you don't harm anyone in the process. We are both there for the same reason and that's having fun and enjoying the great outdoors. Somewhere along the way you have lost sight of the big picture. Step back, take a deep breath and at least try to remember what it's all about. It ain't about all this petty crap. Good luck and I hope somewhere sometime you find it again or at least remember the pure and unadulterated joy of hunting.
