I live in S.E.Indiana and drive past the Bass Pro in Cincinnati everyday and let me tell you that after being in a couple of the Cabela's stores..Bass Pro really sucks...period!!!!!! Cabela's has more in one store than BP ever thought about having in my opinion.BP is good for fishing but other than that..forget it!!!! I sure hope that Cabela's is building in the Indy area!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should start a fund for those of us that forsee going bankrupt from the new Cabela's??? We have "Hunters Feeding the Hungry" and other programs, I think we need "Hunters Helping Sale-Crazed Hunters Who Spend All Their $$$ At The New Cabela's" or HHSCHWSAT$ATNC for short.......

Looks like it's very close to being a done deal(hopefully there won't be any unforseen snags). Cabelas has already announced it on their website. It will be exactly 1 minute from my office. I think I might have to find another job.

This is going to be so awesome. I drive by there twice a day as well and may even put in an application for a second job. I cannot wait. I will definitely need help from HHSCHWSAT$ATNC.

Cabelas is much better than Bass pro because they offer different brands. Bass Pro tends to stick to their Red Head Brand. Lest jut hope the folks in greenwood dont screw this up tonight. I hope they realize how big this really is.

I hope they realize how big this really is. Plus bass pro doesn't carry much in reloading supplies, no bulk bullet, or cases. So far Sportsman's Warehouse in Lafayette has the best selection of reloading supples and prices of any place Ive been in Indiana. h.h.

Wonder what determines store size for an area? For Cabelas this would be one of their smaller stores. This one would be smaller than Hammond and about 1/2 the size of Dundee Mi. They state this will be 125,000 sq.ft.. For those that have been to the Bass Pro in Clarksville that store is 286,000 sq.ft.

Big, small, I don't care....bring on Cabela's!
I don't/won't do business with Dick's Sporting Goods( originally a Hendricks Co. boy, Galyan's RIP), and while I have been pleasantly surprised by Gander Mt., a little competition ain't a bad thing.
The only downside to this is that it'll make it that much harder on the few remaining mom'n'pop outdoors shops....double-edged sword.

I was @ the announcement and Greenwood council tonight. It is a Tier 1 store, which is their smallest coming in at 125,000 sq ft.. I wish it were going to be a mega-store, but oh well... Cabela's is taking all the "risks" in this deal, by actually purchasing the $18 mill. bond and then paying it back through the city. This is really a win-win for Greenwood. The only snag that could be a problem is the fact that Greenwood officials wanted a guarantee from Cabela's that they would NOT open another store within 100 miles, but Cabela's would only guarantee 50. I don't see why this is such a big deal, 50 miles guarantees that they wont throw another store up in the Hamilton County Saxony development. Anyway, I think it will pass with no problems, Greenwood is just trying to squeeze a little more if they can. Another addition to Cabela's will be the Splash Universe hotel/waterpark. It will be themed in a lodge feel to go along with Cabela's. Their vision is that Dad goes to shop at Cabela's while Mom and the kids play at the waterpark.
I'm excited....this is great news! I actually think it will help Gander also, because most people will go comparision shop before making a purchase. Today the parking lot at GM on the South side only had about 12 cars in it....Cabela's being across the highway will bring customers at times that are normally "slow".
Welcome to Central Indiana Cabela's!!!!
