Congratulations to the Aneheim Ducks on winning the Stanley Cup last night. They dominated the Ottawa Senators in 4 of the 5 games. So they will celebrate on the west coast for about 5 minutes then forget about the whole thing. The good thing is the cup stays on US soil, out of the hands of the evil Canadians. Plus the NHL sent me a thank you letter, autographed by Gary Bettman, for being the only person in the state of Indiana to watch the cup finals on NBC!!!!! Whooohooo!

I watched every game. I love hockey. WOW, another Indiana NHL fan! We are few and far between, brother. They need a new, competent, commissioner, shorten the regular season, get rid of (contract) some crappy teams, widen the nets and revamp some rules, then the NHL would be right back in this thing. Maybe even the 5th most watched sport!

Guys back in the middle 80's I had season tickets to the Ft Wayne Komets. I went to all the home games and that was every Wed and Sat night. Beer was a $1.00 for 20 ounce cup.
Some of the rivalries were unbelievable. Komets played in the International League at the time and the two teams hated the most were the Toledo Blades and the Indianapolis Ice. Ive seen some fights that would sell for $100.00 on pay per view today.
Most teams would keep an enforcer that would come into the game when they were losing to settle the score with someone. Usually it was a big center that played just for those moments. Ive seen so much blood on the ice it wasn't funny. Ive seen whole teams duking it out before they even dropped the puck. Ft Wayne had one of the best arenas and crowds at the time and it was so fun to be at the game.
The reason most people don't like hockey is they don't understand the rules of the game. h.h.

My dad used to take me to ICE games when I was little. I absoloutly fell in love with the sport. At BSU we took a roadie or two to Komets games. Louisville had the Icehawks and then the Riverfrogs for a while, but not any more. Used to go watch big Sheldon Gorski slap pucks in the net and then slap the other team around.
My wife is currently planning a trip for us this fall to St. Louis for a couple home stand Blues games. (she's awesome)
Drgreyhound has just committed herself to at least one Indiana Ice game this year.
