It's now 11 pm and I'm on my second beer here in Canada and probably the last one for this evening. We got in about 3:00 pm and I went out and hooked into 5 walleye for supper. We already seen our first Bald Eagle of the trip. We're planning on taking one evening to go out and see if we can see some bears. Weather looks to be good for fishing the next couple days so we should have a couple good walleye dinners. Oh, gas was 3.11 in northern Minnesota.

Day two. The wind was super strong today and it was most impossible to to sit at any one spot and fish, no anchor. We tried the coves and banks out of the direct wind but still got pushed about pretty good. We did manage to again catch our daily limit of walleye and a couple perch but only one northern. With that is was still a pretty good day on the water. I've been seeing lots of ducks but not a single goose so far. Sorry guys, can't recruit if they're not here.

Day three and what a pretty day it was only thing is we didn't catch near the fish we've been. Today was a northern pike day with only one walleye caught. My fishing partner (my wife) caught her biggest fish ever a 26" northern. There was no assist from me other than netting it for her. The biggest northern went about 30" and it was in the throw back slot, I also got a couple nice perch and some smallmouths. Again the duck sightings were plenty and we seen another bald eagle. Yes Travis and Donnie there are canada geese here and from what I'm finding out you'll have to come north to hunt them. I just finished up another fresh fish supper and now settling down to a relaxing evening on the deck with a couple beers.

Question....
Petrol was $3.11.... per gal or litre? I'd bet a Molson it's per Litre... IOW about $10/gal...

Old Ironsights you owe me a Molson. It was $3.11 a gal in Duluth MN and $3.14 just before we crossed over into Canada. I haven't bought any here in Canada yet so I didn't check the price.
Day four, anyway I know it's day four because that's how many rocks I have on the deck. It's hard to keep track of the days when your on vacation. As for the fishing, before it started to rain, all we caught were perch. This morning I seen a flock of 40 or so geese fly over the lake and a pair of eagles. We quit fishing today when the wind kicked up and the rain started. We took a drive this evening looking for bears but didn't see anything but deer. Tomorrow they calling for more rain but clearing for Friday. Even though there's some fish in the fridge tonight we had pork chops for dinner.

Bring some of that rain back with you. Did you stop at the Cabela's on the way up there or are you going there on the way back? Try to stay out of trouble up there, we want them to let you back in October.

Day five and another rock on the deck. Calling for a hard rain all day today so we'll most likely not be getting on the lake today. If it breaks for any time we may do some fishing off the deck. There were a couple guys catching walleye and crappie off of it the other evening. We're stopping at Cabela's on the return trip. I need a couple cases of steel shot ammo and didn't want to bring it into Canada with me. I have some points to spend on my Cabela's card and it would just be a shame not stop in and see if I can't use them up.
