www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=68207 THIS just pees me off.i know ive took some strays out myself.but when this kind of stuff gets plastered all over the news it gives the antis more fuel for the fire.if we as hunters dont watch what we are doing ,there will come a time we will be fighting for the right to shoot our bows in our own back yards.

Guessed he used a target point. He should have known better....

Being a hunter, I am obviously not against killing an animal ..... but I cannot stand the thought of making one suffer needlessly.
IF they find whomever did this I hope they string them from the highest tree.

Yeah, my brother did that once. It was not deliberate, as this is implied to be. We were shooting behind his house at a large target, suspended in a large frame in front of 12 bails of straw stacked against his out building. Impressive backstop for 30 yards. ;D Anyway, some kittens had apparently taken up residence between the straw and the building. One finally ventured out to see what was making that 'THUMP' sound. My brother was drawing back when I saw the kitten. He didn't, as they were the standard STRAW colored variety of course. Now, the kitten made the poor choice to jump straight up at the arrow, just as my brother released. Kitty on a skewer. And a very upset little kitty too! We hurried down to get the little guy off the arrow, and he was NOT seeing the humor in it. It also caught him in the neck, but did no real harm it seems. Except to his mood. After the claws and teeth and attitude were over, the cat ran off. No real harm done, and no harm meant, but if the cat had been seen by someone else, the story would doubtless have sounded like this one. I am not saying this story is the same. I am simply saying that a story very similar to this happened in front of me, and wasn't at all what it might have looked like to others. Accidents happen, and cats are very quick to jump at things that quiver.

I hate cats. They are targets of opportunity. Make a nice clean kill, and dispose of the evidence.

I love my cat, but strays and ferals are almost as good at killing rabbits, quail, and songbirds as disease is.

I have no pitty on folks that allow their domestic critters to roam unchecked.

I have no pitty on folks that allow their domestic critters to roam unchecked. Agree 100%. But kill the damn thing ... dont make it suffer. It is not the cats fault the owners let it roam free ...... I like how the paper article said "He's fixed, he's gentle, he loves to walk through the neighborhood, everybody on this street knows Lucky, and loves him.". Yeah, I bet everyone loves him. Everyone loves coming outside and finding a cat sleeping on the hood of their car. And they love it when the cat gets scared and runs off the hood, claws out, and the nice little scratches left behind. Everyone loves it when your cat craps in their childs sandbox .... it is so cute when little Jonny digs up a cat bomb and plays with it. Obviously not everyone loved Fluffy ..... but they should have killed the thing instead of making it suffer.

Should have waited for a broadside shot.

I am against the wanton killing of cats unless they are Farrel. Most cats found in neighbor hoods and subdivisions are the pet of some little child. Take a minute to think about how your daughter or son would feel if some inane cat hater killed it. Hopefully they will find that piece of scum and throw him in prison. It is what he deserves.

I have no pitty on folks that allow their domestic critters to roam unchecked. Me either, leash laws exist for a reason, and cats aren't exempt from them.

Hey Guys,
We all have our own ideas on shooting cats and these shooting cat threads go south real fast and end up in a whizzing match. Before this one heads that way I'm going to lock it. h.h.
