My home is right on 256 near Madison. ( East of Kent for you locals ). My wife had stepped out with a watering can to sprinkle some flowers when there was some tire squealing and a crash. I ran out into the yard, to see what I thought was a wreck. Instead, I saw a dude punching the driver through the window of the car. "Get out of the car mother------!" he screamed several times. Now this was going on at least 200 yards away. I went in to call 911, not thinking to tell my wife to do it. (why do we do stupid stuff like that ?) In the 15-20 seconds I was on the phone, the attacker's buddy pulled him off the victim and they got back into their explorer, deliberately backing into the front of the victim's car thee times before leaving. When I emerged from the house, they must have been gone, though I did not know it. I started off across a cornfield. My nieghbor and an EMT who through God' Grace was passing by had already reached the victim and were checking him out. The EMT told me to direct traffic, and I did so, standing in the highway in my Realtree sweatpants and blue workshirt, hat-hair sticking out wildly, holding out my hand much like my avatar, lol. Thank God it wasn't rush hour. I filled out a police report and went home.
I heard the victim tell the cops the attacker was a relative. Apparently, the victim and he wife had been feuding, and the attackers took issue with something he had done. They actually ran him off the road, pulled in front of him, and went from there.
I guess they will face a number of charges out of this one... Be careful, there are some real dillys out there....

Wow! Yeah, you're right when you say there's a few "dillys" out there... I have a confession to make--I have been the perpetrator of "road rage" a few times (although never anywhere near THAT bad). I can't stand incompetence period, but when it's incompetence in driving that gets in the way of MY driving, I get mad. Two incidents happened in the past few years which have effectively ended my outward expression of road rage...both scared me half to death!!! In the first of the two (a couple of years ago), I was stopped at the light on the south side of Indy by County Line Road and 65--the west side of the intersection (where Gander Mountain is now). It was early in the morning (8 AM or so) on a Sunday and no one was out. I come to a stop at the red light (not particulary fast) and sit at the light for at least a full 3 seconds, when a car comes out of nowhere behind me, nearly rear-ends me, and screeches to a halt about an inch away from my rear bumper. As the light changes and we pull out, he pulls to my left side (I was in the right lane) and gives me a look that could kill. What do I do in my stupidity and immaturity? I flip him off. Needless to say, he generously returns the gesture, accelerates and pulls right in front of me in the right lane. As we are getting onto the 65 northbound ramp, he accelerates and screeches to a halt right in front of me so that I nearly rear-end him, and then he accelerates down the rest of the ramp onto 65. At this point, I made it a priority to let him get as far away from me as possible. Although I realize that I was in the wrong for "accelerating" his anger, where is the cop when you need him?! I came home, tearfully related my story to my boyfriend, and got a well-deserved tongue lashing from him about how I could get killed if I did something like that. Anyways, I should have been deterred from "road rage" expressions then, and I pretty much was...until a month or two ago... ...when I was going northbound on 31 by Stop 11. Some dirty-looking guy in a beat-up old Sedan was in front of me in the far right lane going about 35 (the speed limit is 45 and everyone pretty much goes 50). He keeps me hovering behind him for at least a mile, because there was a lot of traffic on 31 (mid-day on a Saturday) and I couldn't pass. He f-l-o-a-t-s into the right turn lane so slow that I STILL can't pass him in the lane I am in--when he finally gets the entirety of his piece of you-know-what into the right turn lane, I honk loudly as I pass him. I am pulling up to the next light in the far right lane when I hear a car coming down the right turn lane--sure enough, it is him!! I make certain not to make direct eye contact with him as I view him using my peripherals. He rolls down his window, sticks his head out, and starts apparently screaming at me, although I can not hear what he is saying since I have my windows up and my Clay Aiken CD playing (no joke! ). The cars in front of me inch up and I thank the Lord for the ability to get inches away from him...I inch up...he inches up paralell with me and continues to yell with his head stuck out the window. The whole time I am checking the lane to the left of me to see if there is space for me to squeeze in and away from this guy, but alas, there is not. Praying that I don't get shot, I thank God when the light changes--I go through the intersection, he turns right, and I never see him again. I again relate the story to my boyfriend (although not tearfully this time), and he again provides me with a well-deserved tongue-lashing about all the cukoos in the world who could have a gun and shoot me for expressing my rage. And since that incident, I have not outwardly expressed my rage! Instead, my boyfriend gets to hear a string of obscenities when he is in the car with me when "driving incompetence" happens--or no one in particular gets to hear if I am by myself... ;D The bottom line is--keep your rage to yourself! Expressing it to the incompetent driver causing the problem will do no good. Life is not worth getting attacked by some cukoo on the road.

I can't stand incompetence period, but when it's incompetence in driving that gets in the way of MY driving, I get mad. Me neither. I often wonder how they even got a driver's license That is why we need to control our road rage.. Not easily done though, is it?

One of these days I am going to have a heart attack while driving. There is no quicker way (other than standing around in a retail store for a while) to observe blatent stupidity and large number of people who need to be culled from society than to just go for a drive.
Worst thing is, with all the new safety devices in cars, not nearly enough of these people are dying when they screw up.

Admittedly, no, it's not--but it's important to do exactly this! What happens is they usually take out an innocent and they walk away without a scratch. Yep!

I was going on a fire run a couple of weeks ago and came up on a car that was traveling about 45 in a 55 i was in my own car going to the station with no blue light on not really in a hurry but i catch up to the guy and we come to a four way stop sign and by now i am on his but at the stop sign. He just sits there on purpose for at least 10 seconds. So i back up a little and go around him in the intersection. Well guess what he deicides to ride my a s s all the way to the fire station no more that 2ft off my bumper the whole way. As i pulled up to the staion the trucks werre pulling out. I think it was at that point he realized he had screwed up. He turned around and left. I think sometimes we should just be allowed to shoot people for any reason

Paint ball guns..... if you off someone they have the right to shoot your vehicle. After 3 splats, you have your license taken away automatically.

I drive an average of 200 city miles a day, 5 days a week in a heavy truck and I see every lousy, inconsiderate, rude, dangerous driver you can possibly imagine. IMO, an individual who gets all bent out of shape over drivers like these has other issues bottled up inside. Let it go. Don't make an issue of it. Don't cause it to escalate into something more serious than it is. Life's too short to get involved in an altercation with an idiot holding a steering wheel. Once you start an argument with a fool, it's hard to tell who the fool is.

Livin here in Nashville I see folks who shouldn't be driving EVERY day. I had one lady drop her very nice hog in the paking lot of the gas station cause I was backing out of my space. Totally her bad, I just smiled and drove on as her crew ran to her rescue. Then one morron on a hog, on 46 turns on his left turn signal, slows down and when he gets to the road he is signalling to turn on, I begin to go around him on the right as always............. AT THE LAST SECOND HE DECIDES TO GO INTO THE BAIT SHOP TO THE RIGHT! I lock'em up, look at him with a "your such a idiot" look and then just roll my eyes, shake my head and cruise on. I figured he'd end up killin ol girl on the back before they got home.
Another one meets me at a 4 way stop with his turn sinal on so we bth would have been turning left at the same time. But knowing the tourrest as i do I waitted....Good thing or I'd a splatted him.
And I could go on and on about the tourerist in cars.
If it's tourist season......why can't we shoot em? ;D

THAT stretch will test your tolerance for containing road rage!!!
