Being over 55 it is time I do this horrible thing to make sure there is nothing inside me thats not suppose to be there. I'm in the process of drinking my second quart of mmmmm...delicious flavored laxitive....not! This stuff tastes as nasty as anything Ive ever drank! Whoever invented the flavor of this stuff should have to drink along with me at 6AM.... You have to drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes for 1 hour. It tastes like salty orange rind with some kind of thickening agent added...... Good thing is I'm having the test at noon and then its to McDonalds.... h.h.

Good luck! Nothing like a couple of Big Mac's to make things all better.

In February of last year I had to bring my boyfriend for an upper GI scope, for which he had to eat nothing for a certain number of hours before the procedure. After he woke up from the anesthesia, left the hospital, and got into my car, the first thing he said is that he wanted two Arby's giant roast beef sandwiches with a large order of curly fries and a milkshake--so 5 minutes later, I made a trip through the drive-through...I couldn't believe after having gone though it all that he could have had an appetite, but boy, did he ever! Good luck with this and with keeping your tasty "go-lightly" down!!! I've got 30 years before I probably need to worry about that, fortunately...

Been there ,doen that.
Last time I had it done I drank some kind fo Gatorade with the laxative mixed in.
It wasn't too bad to down.
The time before that it was a premixed laxative and I ended up with BAD stomach cramps. I thought I was going to have to go to the emergency room at the hospital. Worse hurt I have ever had..
Good luck...

(edit) Dangnabit Woody, beat me to it... Been there, done that too... twice in the last 2 months. The secret is to buy a sixpack of 12oz bottles of Gatorade/Substitute, pour one dose into each bottle, then chill until almost too cold to drink. The BrainFreeze helps take your mind off what's going to happen below, the flavor & chill numbs the tongue/taste, and the minerals help keep your electrolytes ballanced. Just remember. The time you spend doing all this is Fleeting... (Rated as the #1 worst pun of all time by my GI doc...) ^^^

Ironsides-where were you last year?? I wish I had known about the "additions". I ended up puking, along with everything else. Finally called the doc when there was blood mixed in with stuff from both ends. He was trying to get me to finish the last bit but I told him I was gonna be in the ER if I did anymore so he finally relented and just told me to make sure and not eat anything-like I was going to anyway. At least the procedure itself was OK because they put me under for that and I never felt a thing or had any nasty after effects.

Thanks guys for the support. The test is at 12 noon so getting ready to go.
The stuff they had me get is new and just out. Some pharmacy's don't have it. Its called Moviprep.
Ive had a few friends do this procedure and all say the same thing about the drink. I thought since this stuff is new it might not be as bad!........ WRONG!!!!
I almost puked last night trying to choke down the last 8 ounces. Today i had to hold my nose so i couldn't smell it, that helped some. At 6AM its not something you want to drink. h.h.

Good luck!
I have a history of colon polyps and have had about 5 colonoscopies. I used to really like Sprite but can't drink it now. It reminds me too much of the nasty laxative.

Good luck! They might even find the television remote you've been looking for. Let's pray they don't find anything else.
If Mayor Bloomberg had this done, the scope would black his eye, because that's where he keeps his head all the time anyway.

Well back from the test and I'm good to go, nothing wrong. The doctor told me the test was good for ten years.
I pigged out after the test at Kentucky Fried Chicken on mashed taters, gravy and biscuits, mmmmm........did it taste good.
Any of you that are over 50 should have this test done as it just might save your life. h.h.

Definately do it after 50.... just be glad you don't (didn't) have to do it repeatedly at 40.

I'm just three years away from my first one, and definitely not looking forward to it, though I understand the neccessity of it. I keep my "works" well flushed, so I doubt there'll be anything "up there" for them to worry about, good thing I've always loved eating my veggies. In fact, a nice mess of collards is sounding pretty good right now...
