The issues are already polarized, the anti-hunters and gun control advocates want nothing less than an end to all hunting and private gun ownership. There is no middle ground, there can be no compromise, and appeasement of these types is the surest way to guarantee the loss of the sport we love.
If being vocal and unequivocal in support of hunting and gun ownership is extremist then we could stand to have a few more extremists.

It is true ... he has never DODGED a tough question. If he has someone DRAFT his speeches he might want to tell them tone it down a little bit.
Put two and two together and you come squarely to what my biggest problem is with him ......

Again-obviously a difference of opinion for us, but you give him way too much credit when you attempt to suggest that he might be considered extremist simply because he`s so outspoken in support of gun and hunting rights-but the reason he`s considered an extremist is nothing more than he`s a weirdo. He talks weird, he acts like he`s ate up with the drugs he claims he`s never done, and he`s just a Gonzo, spirit of the wild freako, weirdo, that put`s people off because of his vocabulary and the odd ball persona. Just that simple.

Told him would be glad to,maybe we gained two supporters.

Don't forget Ted is a celebrity and most celebrities in the music and acting field put on their act when in the public eye. I don't think when Ted and Shemane sit down for dinner he gets that wild eyed look and starts talking about back straps. Ted's heart is in the right place and he is very active. I applaud him for that. I also think the guy is very very smart and speaks with data.

Excellent message by Nuge, even though he gets a bit extreme at times.

This is hard for me, as we rarely disagree, at least as far as I know, and I hate to disagree with you now, but I`d have to say two things to your question- First, it a matter of opinion as to how much good he does in regards to his support of gun and hunting rights-from what I`ve seen, he`s always preaching to the choir as it were, I`ve only seen him speaking to sportsman`s groups-hey thanks, but we already have their support. Second, I believe that he is SO weird, that he has zero credibility with the vast majority of the non-hunting, non-gun owning public. Come on-as far out there as he is, you seriously don`t believe he put`s people off? There is too much going on in the world today, and I for one, have to carefully pick and choose who I`ll spend time with, and what I`ll support, with time and money, and sorry-Nugent is too far out there for me to spend time on-I seriously don`t believe he helps us, quite the contrary, I believe he hurts us in the eyes of many of the non-gun owning public. Just my opinion.

Well I know of two that Ted and I converted, today my neighbors are both applying for CCW permits.I do not think Ted Nugent is much more out there then some of the hair brained ideas our elected officials come up with. he is not a puppet for the lobbyists.

I didn't say I completely disagree--I was just interested in posing the question because I know one's perception of another's "weirdness" is really completely subjective. To another person with a different environment/cognitive operation/etc., Nuge might be the most normal guy on earth (hard to imagine)! Weird or not, I still support his advocacy of gun rights and give him credit for it. It might be true that he could lose credibility in some people's eyes for being "weird."

hunter480, since you are down on uncle ted then who would be your choice for poster boy for pro gun and hunting? h.h. Too easy to call- Tom Sellek and/or Charlton Heston-both very staunch supporters of gun rights, without the weirdo persona. I`ve touted his book many times here and on other sites, but you must read "The Courage to be Free" by Charlton Heston-great book.

hunter480, since you are down on uncle ted then who would be your choice for poster boy for pro gun and hunting? h.h. UNCLE TED?.......... not! How did he become Uncle Ted?. i AGREE WITH SOME OF THEINGS HE SAYS AND DISAGREE WITH HIS POSTION ON OTHER THINGS.... (SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS)........ Why do we need a poster boy H.H. ??/ Perhaps it is because it is far easier for someone else to carry the torch for us as oppossed to standing up and taking the time to do it for ourselves? THE POSTER BOYZ needed are the very ones that whine moan and groan about the direction things are going in and yet put very little effort into making things change...... I don't need to count on YOUR UNCLE TED to speak for me and neither should anyone else..........

It looks like Uncle Ted speaks for about 90% of the people that replied to this post.
Every great cause has a leader or "poster boy" to represent the people on the national level, Uncle Ted is usually the one for pro gun and youth hunting.
I could care less Gundude if you or hunter480 don't like Uncle Ted as that is your right to do so but until you can show me someone who promotes and fights for gun ownership, gun rights and youth hunting on a national level more than Uncle Ted, then he is my choice. h.h.
