It is simply another post, among a long line of posts, which proves he is NOT in it to help hunters, sportsman or gun owners. WHich means he should NOT be in the position he is in. Gun control will again be a huge national issue. I don't know what the answer is, but, the loss of one of those young peoples lives is not worth an open ended right to own guns. I don't want to lose my right to own a gun, but maybe there does need to be more and tighter controls over the selling of firearms. Will it really make a difference, I don't know, but simply doing nothing isn't the answer either. Except for the religious zealots in the middle east, you don't see this type of thing happening in other countries around the world where there appears to be senseless acts of violence against young people. Guys and gals,'
A frnned of mine is a vet professor at VA Tech.
He said it is state legal to carry a handgun on campus IF the person has a concelaed carry permit. VA Tech has it's own rules against it and it would lead to expulsion of the student and firing of a member of the faculty.
My friend is a gun nut and most certainly would carry on campus if it did not mean the loss of his job.

We will never lose them, and I for one will never give mine away. They will have to be taken, by force. Now, my question is this; We have guns, and the anti's do NOT have guns We know how to use them, and the anti's do NOT know how to use them Just who, exactly, do they think is going to do the 'taking' here anyway? Or do they feel if they can just get the ban in place, we will all step up to the plate and have our gonads sliced off cleanly? |

What I am saying is this, I don't believe there is ANY reason for average citizens to own certain types of weapons. Weapons of multiple capability or shot capability of five shots or more is just not necessary in todays society. That would NOT affect hunting at all, and I am fully supportive of gun ownership and guns used for hunting. I am not one of these "I should be able to own any weapon the military owns" type of people. I find that idealism both irresponsible and ridiculous in today's society. I will always stand up for gun ownership and for firearms, bows and other weapons that will allow us ot hunt effectively, but I will not be supportive of firearms that provide absolutely nothing in value to society and allows the opportunity for someone to create situations like that which happened. If this gentleman had only had a capability of five rounds, would he have been able to create such destruction? Sure if all the kids in class had had guns wth them, would they have been able to stop him before 33 kids were killed, sure. But get real folks and climb out of the woods. Allowing college students to carry guns to class isnm't going to happen so try to come up with a bette solution instead of simply saying "oh well". You go tell the families of those kids that response and see how they react to you. I am not anti gun, but you better believe there are limits that need to be addressed.

I too am of the belief that if we reversed our standard statistics of firearm carry ( currently only about 6% of population in Indiana carry on a regular basis) where the vast majority of people were carrying a weapon it would make it nothing more than suicide to attempt to kill people like this, or rob a convenience store, or attack people with any kind of weapon at all in public.
That $83 in the cash register doesn't seem so enticing if you aren't the only one in the store with a loaded pistol...
