Just had a guy bring a Puma 480 ruger and a box of new Hornaday shells over for alittle test fire. Fired one shot and it will no longer work! Just barely dimples the primer. Guess you better make the first shot count! Told him I would keep looking at the Marlin & Ruger .44 mags.

Your Friend's Rossi Puma in .480 Ruger might just need to be cleaned & degreased around the firing pin. I'd take a look at the firing pin to see if this is the problem. It could also be a broken or cracked firing pin.

I was just posting to make a reference to the Puma gun in the 480 ruger cal. I have had several Marlin & Ruger lever guns and never experienced this problem. And, yes the gun was completely cleaned of all the factory grease and properly oiled before firing. I was just relaying my experience with this gun in case anyone was looking into one of these.
