Or is it just gun collectors? I think these sold for $25, new in box in 1962. They never were a very good gun and accuracy was terrible. I've never seen a bolt action nylon. The semi autos seem to have pretty decent accuracy. They must have re tooled to make the semi's.

Always looked cheap to me. I always considered the Winchester M-75 Sporter the best USA produced .22 Rifle ever made.

I'm not sure if it has that much collector value or not, but it wouldn't be the first time a couple bidders started competing with each other and drove the price ridiculously high on one of those online auctions.
It never seems to happen when I have something to sell though, lol.
