Should Indiana's "Senior Hunters" ... those 55 or 65 and older be allowed to use crossbows as "regular archery".....without having to obtain any special handicap permits?

I think this one is a "no brainer"....YET in Indiana it is illegal for a 80 year old hunter to use a crossbow in October, without having to get a doctor to fill out and write up a report for a crossbow permit.
The Indiana DNR should address this situation ASAP, and allow our senior citizens the choice of useing a crossbow. We (as a hunting community) are lucky those seniors are still getting out there, who cares if they are useing a crossbow!...?

If we aren't gonna let everyone....... than yes, at least make the no-brainer and let seniors use them. I couldn't agree with you more Camby!

I have never seen any reason not to allow them across the board in the first place. PCR/crossbow/same thing.
To hell with these little groups wanting to impose their preference on others. Especially that pathetic little group of bow hunters trying to cut back on gun season to increase their odds of a b&c!

Let them in period. If that is what you want to use then so be it. These self interest goups suck and are destroying the lifestyle.

Tag - thanks. I will. Jack LOL. - Good one Jack. Just let me know when you will be going hunting so I will know to stay home. ;D This thread made me realize that this coming season will be my first year to be considered a "senior" by some people. I say crossbows for anyone all season.

I'd prefer that they be liberalized across the board, but 55 and up would be an acceptable stepping stone, the fact that I'll be 55 in 8 years had absolutely nothing to do with my choice though...

I see the term "interest group" being used an awful lot lately, like some people think they aren't members of one. There are pro crossbow interest groups, there are anti obr, interest groups, for every interest, there is a group. I don't understand why everyone feels the need to use "interest group" as a derogatory word. Or call them pathetic...name calling isn't allowed...

You seem to use many colorful words to describe what YOU consider 'bad form', shall we say . . 'slob hunter', lazy hillbilly', etc. Pathetic is a fine word to describe a group trying to cut the throat of another group just to get their trophy buck. Petty would be another. Childish. Selfish. Look up the definitions. And when you can go a week without flaming every hunter in your immediate hunting area, get back with me on that.

John, when I used those words, I was told that I couldn't.
They were insulting and had no place on this site, that is what I was told.
Apparently, you used pathetic in a manner with some more noble cause than I did.

Apparently, you used pathetic in a manner with some more noble cause than I did. That would be my guess. Feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss it further. As for crossbows, anytime it comes up for a vote count on me to vote yes across the board. I have never shot one, and never had a desire to, and doubt I ever will, but there is no reason to exclude them from Archery season. The only difference between the crossbow and PCR issue is that I will most likely hunt with a PCR if it passes. All other aspects are identical. Allowing them hurts no one, endangers no one, restricts no one, and are very comparable to what is already legal. And that should be all that matters anyway.
