www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=2853Friday, April 06, 2007 Gun ban groups often claim that private citizens rarely, if ever, use guns in self-defense. ABC News’ "20/20" is now putting that claim to the test, asking viewers to submit their own real-life "Armed Citizen" stories. ABC’s website asks:
Have you ever defended yourself from a crime in your home, in your business, or in public by using a gun? Perhaps you warded off a potential attacker by simply showing a gun?
If you’ve personally used a gun in a legitimate act of self-protection against a criminal attacker, we encourage you to tell your story to ABC News. To tell your story, go to www.abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3015150 and complete their web form.
And to ensure that we at NRA know how many responses ABC gets, please send us a copy of your story by e-mailing armedcitizen@nrahq.org. You can also call NRA Public Affairs at (703) 267-1193.

Wonder how ABC is going to spin this..... Hope they don't, but it'll be interesting to see how gun owners are portrayed.

Considering the number of gun owners in this country, how could they possibly portray them as anything but ordinary, normal, everyday people? BTW- Wonder why they didn't just access the Justice Department figures, or the NRAs own "The Armed Citizen" column? Probably much easier to slant the facts to fit your agenda, if you can sift through them and report only those that do.

If they use NRA`s Armed Citizen as a basis for their "report" they don`t begin with it alreay skewed the way they like. But we all will know better right? I mean, every single person at this forum is an NRA member-noone could dream up ANY excuse to NOT be part of helping to defend our Second Amendment, right?

Don't all of the articles in the "Armed Citizen" originate from a local media source???

I'm not sure this will be a good thing.
They will find the most outlandish, irresponsible (while still being "legal") "self defense" stories they can and run that... and allow "the public" to make up their own mind whether or not "they" should allow that sort of Yahooisim...
And 20/20 won't even be able to be called on it, because they will have done exactly as they said they would - publish stories of "legal" self defense with a firearm.
IMO, IF, and only IF John Stossel has editorial control would it be a passibly fair show...

I buy into the idea of not talking to the media.

Forget 20/20. They will turn it around to trash talk & degrade the armed citizens for failing to hug & kiss the bad guys at the moment of truth.

I just sent in a story just to see what they do with it, if anything.

They will only show the biggest, most radical rednecks they can find. The bigger the sideburns, and the fewer the teeth the better.
