John McCain and his delegation, After walking in a marketplace said the streets of Baghdad are safe for Americans.
Merchants in the area were incredulous, saying what are they talking about?.this was only for the media!,this will not change anything. The security procedures were abnormal. The market was paralyzed by the visit. The delegation arrived at the market with more than one hundred soldiers in armored humvees an entire company, and attack helicopters circled overhead. All traffic was redircted away from the area.Sharpshooters were on the roofs. All the delegation wore bullett proof vest, during there one hour visit. At a news conference shortly after the visit the delegation described the market place as a safe bustling place full of warm Iraqis. They said it was like a normal outdoor market in INDIANA in the summertime.Last Thursday sixty people were killed by a man with a bomb straped to his body.Recently several people have been killed in this market by daily shootings by snipers.Gunfights are a daily thing.
Sounds safe to me!-------------NOT

McCain has a major case of head-where-the-sun-don't-shine syndrome...if he feels that it is as safe there as being outdoors in Indiana, he can be my guest and go out there and walk around with no protection...I sense a Darwin Award coming on!!

Got a nephew and several former students over there. I will state that from what they say, depending on what region you are in, the market may be very safe, or a kill zone. In Northern Iraq( Kurdish populated areas, the Americans are accepted as heroes. Where the Sunni and Shia sects inter act, violence. Heck they don't care who they kill. In these regions I think we ought to just stay in our safe zones until the violence gets so bad we are asked to help, then anyone who takes a shot at an American we pursue with extreme prejudice.
