Sorry for your loss parson. I feel your pain. It happened to me about 12 years ago. My wife felt sooooooo violated she wanted to sell the house & move. The law enforcement folks did a terribly sloppy & poor investigation, and failed to get my serial numbers entered into the system in a timely fashion. To make it worse the officers acted like they could care less about the break-in. I am not cop bashing, as I deer hunt with a group of police officers. I had a multi exterior / interior zone security system installed immediately following the incident. By the way "none" of the guns have ever shown up.

Parson,
Where are you located and what types of handguns were stolen? A little info can go a long way in helping with recovery.
Sorry to hear about your thief problem. Get yourself a gun safe and anchor it down.

Rhinodogg,
I'm on the east side of Indy. The thieves took a .357 model 66 stainless Taurus, 6"bbl (7 shot). .45 Colt Stainless Ruger Blackhawk 5+" bbl. .22 Blued Browning Buckmark 6" bbl.
I'm getting ready to take serial numbers to the police post. I was told that I would have to sign an afidavit (sp?) on the firearms.
I'll probable peruse some pawn shops, as time permits, just in case they pawned them nearby.
I had told the wife recently that I wanted to get rid of some firearms, but this isn't quite what I had in mind!
Also, like deertracks said, the security man is scheduled to come and install a system. parson

That's why I really don't have any use for "gun safes". A regular gun safe screams "Steal/Jimmy Me". I put a couple of POS "throwaways" in my cheap safe. That way the BGs who go looking for stuff to steal find a Safe and steal some guns... but not any good ones because they stopped looking after snatching the Raven .25 that has no striker... For real gun security I recommend a dead Upright Freezer stuck in a disused corner of the basement. They lock and are darn near fireproof. Cost? Free +/- delivery. Security through Obscurity.
