That's pretty nasty actually! LOL. I had no clue that chipmunks were so vicious!!! I wonder if it caught the mouse also??? Why didn't it run when approached by the people video taping it???

A good friend of mine watched a Fox squirrel right outside a window of his house eat a whole nest full of baby birds one time. He said it was sick but he did watch the whole thing ! Never ate another tree rat either !

Found this on a web site about Chipmunks.
Food & Feeding: The chipmunk is an omnivore. It prefers seeds, nuts and acorns, as well as fruits or berries; but it also eats slugs, insects, nestling birds, eggs and occasionally mice or small snakes. Chipmunks collect most of their food from the forest floor but will harvest nuts and berries directly from trees limbs if necessary. mot of the food they collect is stored in their burrows for the winter, through some may end up in other safe places throughout their territories.

I love it! I want him to come and live in my apartment to take care of my 12 mice in 2 months that I've caught there...

Rabbits will do the same thing. I have seen tame rabbits eat their entire brood before. Hogs and cats do this sometimes also. Chickens will attack anything small that moves, mice in particular. Its a chipmunk eat chipmunk world out there I tell ya.
Not sure if this is true or not, but saw something somewhere the other day claiming monkeys had been observed making crude spears and using them to hunt other animals with on several occasions now.

While deer hunting in North Dakota I once watched a yearling buck chew on the the leg bone of a long deceased deer. It was quite comical as he had it sticking out of the corner of his mouth like a man with a cigar.
Then while we were bear hunting in Idaho a friend of mine watched a mule deer doe eat old pepperoni sticks off of a bear bait. This is until Mr. Bruin headed that way and she decided to leave.

Isn't the Ground squirrel the same critter as the chipmunk ... ? Could be in some instances. Here they say "squirrel like". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChipmunkThey all belong to the rodent family - right along wth the rats.

Isn't the Ground squirrel the same critter as the chipmunk ... ? I classify them all loosely in the "little rodent" category...
