You guys are getting way too personal. I don't really like for people bringing their arguments from other boards to this one. Please take it to PMs or emails.. Next personal attack, yep, we will lock another one and someone or two will be looking to sit a spell... WW My apologies Woody. We are indeed both out of line here. This fued has been going on for far too long, and you will hear nothing more from me about it. On this thread or any other. That is a promise.

For what it's worth, last time I checked, Hoosier Hunting, Indiana Sportsman and Hunting Indiana boards were hunting and sportsmen boards... not DEER hunting boards... and newbies were, at least at one time, welcomed to these boards and their questions answered in a reasonable and courteous fashion...
Now it seems there are a few who have set themselves up as the "expert hunters" who will decide which posters meet their "standard" for hunting skill or whatever, and all others are "whiners" or "slob hunters" or "newbie" or given whatever other condescending label du jour...
I, for one, AM SICK OF IT!!!!!!!! ENOUGH!!!!!!
I wonder if Rick Inman should have been allowed to deer hunt or bow hunt... with no prior deer hunting experience, his cousin convinced him to try bow hunting and showed him the ropes... he took a 12 point his first season out... that experience started a passion for archery.... Rick went on to take 1st place in a division of the Indiana State Archery Championship his first year in the contest...
My son (then 11) took his first deer, an 8-point, opening day of 2005 gun season with his new .50 in-line muzzleloader. A hunting friend of mine who was along that day, Scott, has deer hunted for 10 years and has yet to take a deer, and my son knows this. Scott congratulated Chris on his buck, and Chris did not brag about it or make some put-down remark to Scott, but simply said "thanks"... Our group all hunted hard in the 2006 season, and I was the only one out of five hunters to take a deer this past season - a doe. Neither my son or I consider Scott less a hunter simply because he has not taken a deer. If anything, it speaks to his dedication as a hunter to keep trying and working to improve his skills because, apparently, he does not measure his "success" by whether he takes a deer or not. He enjoys the time in the field with friends and that is the joy hunting brings to him.
If someone came up to me and said they had never shot a bow or a pistol or a shotgun or a rifle and wanted to try it, I would help them learn and support their interest. If they said they had never deer hunted, but wanted to try it, I would teach them the skills needed to have a safe and ethical hunting experience, and I would take them deer hunting.
I would not be so arrogant as to come off like some master hunter, looking down from Mt. Olympus, and say "This is a sport only for experts... you don't have the qualifications to try it..."
If the CAS guys want to try deer hunting, I welcome them, and I won't be stepping down from an ivory tower when I do it...

When we as hunters and sportsmen start bickering amongst ourselves, and start comparing "nickels to dimes",,it's time to take a step back and reconsider what is most important to us as a "whole". Are we being selfish in what we want to hunt with?? Are we being "greedy" because we hate gun hunters? Are we being "greedy" because we don't want crossbows during archery season? What about muzzleloaders? They seem to be battling EACH OTHER now because of the "smokeless vs non-smokeless vs sidelock vs inline issues, etc,,ect. Now we want to start a war with folks wanting to use a pistol cartridge rifle?? FOR WHAT REASON?! Is it because some fear that more folks will be tromping into their sacred hunting grounds?? God forbid we get more folks interested in deer hunting. Maybe a kid?? Geeeesh,,,wouldn't want to do THAT!! Might have that same kid bust a 12 pointer out from under you.... Good for the kid... Grow up guys,,,,it's part of life. And if we want our kids to enjoy what we have,,,change is always inevitable.

Hey Jack... Are you forgetting someone in your disdain for PCR owners? Don't try to spread it out. I don't hate any one for owning any type of firearm. In fact unlike a few of the people promoting these rifles for deer season, I have actually owned one and shot it many times. That doesn't mean just because I've read a messege board and have owned and shot that type of gun that I have any business running to their messege boards belly acheing about their rules or telling them they should do it all different. What do you suppose they'ed say if we were on their boards tomorrow asking why they don't allow hunters to shoot in their camo and asking why they hate us and are so bitter toward their fellow pistol cartridge rifle gun owners? They have their rules. If you want to play their game you follow them. On another note I've never proposed any rule that would take away ANY legal deer hunting weapon from hunters who have already spent their money one weapons complying with the regulations as the DNR has set them. That's a little different from a few of your pistol cartridge rifle compadres who are more than willing, almost jubliant, to throw many current pistol hunters under the train if they can gain any advantage from it.
