Well, the Speaker of the House has quashed the will of the people and has determined that the House will not hear SJR0014 (Senate Joint Resolution 0014). This is the amendment to the Indiana constitution guaranteeing the right to hunt and fish. If you want this amendment to protect your right to hunt and fish (and the rights of those to come) it's time to contact Pat Bauer, Speaker of the House and let him know you want this amendment heard. Doesn't matter your party affiliation, it's your rights and it's time to fight for them. www.in.gov/legislative/house_democrats/repsites/r6/Flood this website and do it ASAP. Jack

Dear Speaker,
The short version, as I know you are a busy man. I am writing to voice my support for SJR0014. I wish for it to be heard and voted upon.
Respectfully yours,

Pat Bauer is more worried about hair-plugs and whether his comb-over will make it all the way over than he is about the voice of the outdoorsman. He's a tool.

My response:
Dear Mr. DeRoo:
Thank you for the email voicing your support for the Constitutional Amendment to protect hunting and fishing. Speaker Bauer greatly appreciates it whenever Hoosiers take the time to share their thoughts with him. I have forwarded your email to Speaker Bauer for his review so that he may keep your concerns in mind.
As you may know, the House Committee on Rules and Legislative Procedures is currently working on Senate Joint Resolution 7, the Constitutional Amendment Defining Marriage. Once the committee has completed its work on this amendment, they will then decide how to approach the Constitutional Amendment to protect hunting and fishing.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your views on this important issue. Please feel free to contact Speaker Bauer again in the future.
Sincerely,
Justin Moed Legislative Assistant Speaker B. Patrick Bauer 200 W. Washington St Speaker's Office 3-2 Phone: (317) 234-9294 jmoed@iga.state.in.us

I haven't gotten any reply from his office yet. I haven't received a reply from my state senator regarding the Minnehaha and Heritage trust fund either. The only politician who's replied to my e-mails is my Rep in U S congress, Mike Pence, who I contacted regarding HB 1022. He's one of our best bets in Indiana to defend our second amendment and hunting rights.

Let's see...I got letters from Mike Pence and Richard Lugar and the email response from Bauer. Think it's time to bug Bauer some more over this and the budget. The budget items were 2 of the three priorities the Indiana Conservation Alliance had established this year and Bauer gutted those. The third prioroty was to form a legislative committee to begin study of way to preserve Indiana farmland (Smart Growth) and slow or stop development. That one never even got a hearing.
Jack
P.S. Thanks to all who sent their concerns. The legislature will never respond unless they know we are watching them.
