I've taken 5 with the smooth bore wingmaster 12 guage that was Dad's. Lots of sentiment. All one shot under 30 yards. Last one was taken with the Encore 209 x 50 at a whopping 15 yards, which is the current rig that I love.
What do you tote into the woods?

'ole faithful for me has been the Mossberg 500 that Dad bought for me probably 10-12 years ago. 24" rifled barrel and scope. I've taken one doe with my .357 MAX Contender, and used to carry both guns, but gave up the T/C a few years ago. I might start carrying it again someday.... The doe with the T/C was the only deer I've ever had to shoot twice, and had I been using hollow points to begin with, I wouldn't have had to do that.

Mossberg 695 bolt action 12 ga. I shoot Lightfield hybrids. The thing kicks like a mule, but I get really nice groups at 100 yds.

I have a few but my main rifle is a 50 caliber Knight Disc Extreme Muzzleloader topped with either a 2-7X32 Bushnell 3200 or a 3-9X44 Burris Fullfield II. My main load has been 100 gr of FFG 777 pushing a 260 gr Winchester Platinum Tip at 1985 fps. I've also used the 250 Barnes MZ Expander with 2 Pyrodex pellets and once even used 3 triple seven pellets with it on game. This year I'm using 90 gr of FFG 777 and a 250 Barnes MZ Expander.

For Wisconsin hunting I use a Remington 740 that is about 50 years old. It still shoots Remington factory 165 grain loads into an inch at 100 yards when I do my part. My go to rifle in Indiana is a Savage muzzleloader shooting smokeless powder and Hornady 250 grain XTP. It will also shoot into an inch at 100 yards. I have a Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5X6 with the German #4 reticle on it. It has been third pillared and bedded and a Sims pad added. Oh yes stainless and black synthetic.

Prevent lead poisoning.......kill it with the FIRST shot!

Wolfhound... Looking real hard at the Burris fullfield series for the .223. How do you like it? I like mine a lot but they've changed production on their Fullfield II's since I bought it in 2002. They're now made in the Philippines while mine was made while they were still 100% made in the USA. I'm not sure if there's any difference. Without owning one of the newer production scopes I'm hesitant to recommend it. I keep 'er plugged with 3 slugs....if I can't drop it with 3, why do I need 5??? The extra weight will help reduce the recoil slightly. Not sure if you'd feel it though.

870 express smoothbore with factory rifle sights for the last 30 yrs. It shoots 4" groups at 75yds. using the Rottweil Brenneke slugs. This year I'm upgrading to a rifled barrel because they quit making that load, and I've found no other that will shoot anywhere near that well in that particular barrel. If it's dry weather, the mood suits me, or it's ML season, my .50 cal. CVA Gamester, sporting a Bushnell 1.5-4.5 VP scope. That setup shoots 1" groups with a well-patched roundball. No, it won't nail 'em to the ground, but I've yet to lose a deer shot with this gun.
BTW..... The best deer I've ever taken was at the unbelievable range of........ 5 yds!

I shoot a Remington 11-87 Cantilever in 12 ga. She’s topped with a Leupold 2X7. I`ve been shooting the Winchester Hi-Impact slugs, since that`s what she really likes, but Winchester quit making them. I had found a bunch of them from a guy at work and bought them from him, but they`re not all the same lot number and they don`t seem to shoot as well. This season I`m going to try to shoot the Lightfield slugs at the range and see if she likes those.
I had been shooting a Knight MK-93, a great little rifle with a black composite thumbhole stock and a SS barrel. She really liked the Knight, (Barnes) Red Hot bullet in 250 grain pushed by 110 grains of Pyrodex Select. This year I`m trying to get a load worked up for my new Knight Disc Extreme. I have NEVER been good at working up a load for a muzzleloader, but I`m going to try shooting 100 to 110 grains of Triple Seven pushing the same Knight, (Barnes) Red Hot 250 grain sabot.

The question was regading deer RIFLES. For that I use a Ruger 77, all weather, 270 Win, topped with a 2x7 Leupold.
Round these parts where we're forced to use these stinkin shotguns & front stuffers, I use either a custom Savage bolt action 12ga topped with a 3x9 Leupold, or an 870 12ga, with rifled barrel and a 2x7 Leupold.
