It's almost time for the bluegill spawn! Should new-fangled automated cast-a-country-mile-self-retrieve, etc, etc, etc be allowed? If so, what should the line restrictions be? Just home made? Mono? Spiderwire?
I see it all as a slippery slope that will allow explosives!!! I say that anyone who cannot succeed with a cut branch, thread, bent safety pin, and a good ol' american night crawler should not sully the name of "fisherman"!!
anonamous! (cabin fever)

I think that we need a few PCR (power casting reel) polls to gather a consensus of the fishing community on this issue. We see the direction, as mentioned above, that some will take this! Do you want to wait until blasting caps begin to explode in a lake or river near you? parson

You and your new-fangled ideas Parson.....wanting to use a safety pin for a hook? Keep it simple and make them out of bone like the ancient indians did!

Yer right, bsutravis, I guess that this modern living has done polluted me more than I realized! I have some deer horns around, I might see how they'll work!

I have a self retrieve fly rod reel. Of course you have to cast it yourself. But I still prefer my open face, crank handle spinning rod, light or ultra light rod of course. But at my age change is hard. Besides that the wife tells me I have enough rods and reels to open a store. I keep telling her need is not want. And living just ain't no fun unless you want something.

I didn't think you could have too many fishing rods and reels. I think I have about 10 now. I'm not even sure how I got some of them
