I just spoke with the landowner. They have no idea on their end when leases expire or renew, so no way for me to get advance notice of the property I "might" be interested in being available.

If I can't find any CCI #400 or #500 primers soon, I may have to find someone "local" to trade some of my #200 for them. Any small pistol primers should work. Probably. I'm just a CCI snob. LOL! I feel that, at the least, I should stay with CCI small and large rifle primers, since I currently have hand-loaded ammo that I need to replicate. Being new to this, I'm not sure how important it is to use the same brand of primers.

If you have time and willing to ask you can cut out the middle man and the markup they take for putting a list for ease of shopping. I have thought about doing this with the landowner I was referring to. I'm just not sure that they would remove the property I'm interested in from the lease program. This landowner trusts me 100% and wouldn't be concerned about liability issues, but did tell me that their only reason for enrolling their various farms into the program was because they didn't want to deal with the public at large and the possible liabilities. They "pay" the leasing agent to deal with any issues that arise. I've hunted pretty much every one of their farms in the leasing program prior to them being leased, and I can honestly state that none of them are worth the price, with the possible exception of maybe one that I feel has promise. The rest are $1-2000 per hunter for the harvesting of does and perhaps a 120-130" buck.

My hunting days will be over the day I have to pay like that. Geez. I've never paid a nickel to hunt anywhere, and used to have around 2000 acres at my disposal. I lost close to 600 around ten years ago, and lost another 350 that I had sole permission on three years ago. My best ground for bigger bucks was probably only 40 acres, but a neighbor turned it into a recreational area for locals to 4-wheel on, and they now drive within 20 yards of my "lucky" tree, so I gave that up. I have 100 wooded acres behind my home that I had sole permission on for 17 years. Now everyone and their brother is crammed in there, so I quit going back there. I'm down to 250 acres across the road that I've hunted alone for 14 years, and now have to share with one likeable young man as of this year. The property was hit by a tornado, and the subsequent logging two years ago really made it a mess. I'm either going to put some real effort into improving it, or I'm going to split a local lease with a friend. I'm not going to pay more than $1000 for my share, and it'd have to be within 30 minutes of home, so I doubt I'll be leasing anything. I've always relied on knocking on doors, so I guess I'll be reluctantly doing that soon.

Probably the same leasing agent that operates near me. I was just goofing around last night and looked at the lease page. There is a farm not 2 miles from me that is listed, and it says you have to buy a membership to get driving directions and the right to inspect the lease. I literally laughed out loud, because I've known the landowner for 30+ years and have hunted all of their farms in the past, including this one. I don't need to pay them jack crap to inspect the property. LOL! And for the record, it is NOT worth the $1900 lease rate.

The way prices and availability are on reloading components, I'd be lucky to load up 9mm for less than my 40 cpr max. I'd need the whole package -- dies, brass, powder, primers, and bullets. That's a tall order. Agree if just starting out. Tough time for sure. Once established with normal components, I think my math was about $.12/ea. BUT, that is with free range picked up brass, cheap 124gr round nose, and 4gr of Universal. I dont shoot enough to make it hardly worth reloading, PRIOR to today's prices. But it's a great feeling now, with the current environment, knowing I wont be running out of ANY ammo for years to come. Is HS-6 a good powder for 9mm? Brownells has it in stock for $26/lb. I can get once-fired range pick-up brass for $35-45/1K delivered. CCI #500 primers would be the hardest thing to find.

My maximum is 40 cpr -- and thats still twice what the stuff was selling for pre-election year. I have 1000 rounds of Winchester on backorder for 39 cpr, but the expected date keeps getting pushed back. I guess we'll see if it gets fulfilled. I'm prepared either way. Obviously, we don't want to see the collapse of America, but I've given my best effort to preparing for just that, as best a man can prepare anyway. I've been debt-free other than a mortgage since December 1995, and I have the cash in the bank to pay my mortgage off if an economic collapse comes and I need to make sure my home truly is mine (along as I continue to pay property taxes. LOL!) I'm set on things needed to defend my wife and property day or night.
My neighbor approached me a week ago asking if I'd be interested in purchasing some of his property that shares a border with mine. It has no value from a hunting prospective, but with the beating the U.S. dollar is going to take under a Biden Administration, land is a safeguard against a currency devaluation. Everything I've read recently says to convert all cash to tangible goods before this situation arises.
Hold the line, gentlemen, and we'll survive this. As the Bible says, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" God certainly isn't siding with abortionists.

I know what a lot of us are hoping/wishing for! I have no idea. Depends on how deep the Deep State really is. I do know that if all states had the same election rules as Indiana, Trump would have won by a landslide.
