Heard my gobbles this morning as well. Sounded like two different birds.

I took off work early a half hour to head to a cut corn field. 4 does were already feeding when I arrived but I snuck to within about 275 yards of them and got situated. Ended up with 16 in it! A young buck came and pestered a few of them and 2 came to my end of the field. One went home with me. That’s my third doe this year and I feel very fortunate for the opportunity. Now a buck.....

Set up for the evening in between two standing corn fields, in a skinny little woods connecting two larger blocks of timber. Need a hot doe or a hungry buck. Fields to the south were cut between last Sunday and today. More deer here now? We shall see.

I’m out. Just killed a coyote that came through. Hope to see some deer later in the morning. Moon was very bright here in Morgan county as well.

I’m hunting private land that I have had to myself all of bow season. But 3 other guys will be out to hunt for the opener, the landowner told me. I figure I’ll be an hour early in hopes that the deer in the north block of timber come south to me. I’ll try to kill a doe for the landowner who wants some killed.

Just had a 130 in ten come by. Couldn’t make myself shoot. He sure was pretty though. Maybe next year. Two does wanted nothing to do with him. They went another direction. Very calm and quiet morning.

I killed doe number two. First one for my bundle! Awesome hunt on a new property I got permission on last week. Very cool property with lots of deer. Saw 7 does total and the last went home with me! Watched her go down so easy tracking. Very fortunate.

Last night I had a 2 1/2 year old 8 point bumping for around. Saw five before that. This morning I saw a 4 point working a doe but she wasn’t having it. Both fun hunts.

The property I hunt is on the wrong side of the boundary. But is that .5 mile buffer make it reduction zone?

Are these buffer zones along highways, applicable to all the highways that are boundaries? I hunt a property in Morgan county that is on the right side of 37 but didn’t know if it applied to 37? Anyone know fore sure?

My brothers came to help at 720. We tracked on our hands and knees to a spot where we couldn’t tell where she went. She was going downhill and hard. Really struggling it looked like. At this point she had gone about 200 yards. We shut the lights off for a second and boom.....we could see her white belly! Thank god. I was feeling terrible. It was a worse shot than I thought. Terrible, in fact. Honestly I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a deer hit that low and die. I don’t know how she died. It was a very low hit. She hadn’t been dead long when we found her. Long drag with my brothers was very tough! Without them, I’d still be dragging. Neither of them hunt either. I was very thankful for the deer and their help! Will post pictures tomorrow! I’m tired!

Shot a doe at 5. Got down and saw good bright red blood. Then found corn in it 20 yards later. Jumped her after 100 yards. Not doing well. Hate that shot. Brother coming at dark to help retrieve. I know she will die. If we jump her at again I’ll call in for a half day and find her in the morning. Not the best feeling.
