Sounds like something that Delaney would dream up and the IDHA would back.

Who knows what lurks in the minds of legislators these days. I know I haven't heard about it.
By the way the senior fishing license is back in the mix again. Please write or call your legislator and back this bill that Rep. Ulmer will be introducing. It will bring an additional $700,000 to the DNR via federal programs and only cost seniors $3.75 each.

I think most seniors would gladly pay $3.75 to bring the state $700K.

The senior fishing license bill has the blessing of the AARP.

Generally speaking, having the blessing of the AARP is reason enough to oppose something.

Duster - haven't heard/seen anything in the legislature on a 1 round rule, but will keep an eye out...
There has been some chatter on some boards related to the pistol cartridge rifle rule proposal where some folks suggested limiting the number of rounds, but no language like that was in the NRC draft, so unless they got comments and would make a change in that draft language afterwards, I don't see that happening...
For that matter, not sure it's even possible to "plug" a Marlin or Henry lever gun like one would a shotgun...

mbogo, I agree. Even in this case.
Complying with the feds by jumping through the hoops they hold out for us to jump through in order to get our own money back makes us good little subjects. Telling them to stick their requirements where the sun don't shine is much more to my liking.
All correspondence to me from AARP has taken the shortcut to the round file for these many years, and will continue in that path.
If the state really wanted to simply satisfy the requirement for some accountability as to the number of elder fisherpersons angling in our state, they should issue FREE licenses to the elderly who request them, and simply have the issuing agent report the number issued. The state believes in "free" stuff. They even think they can find find "free" textbooks somewhere.

If all it takes is a "license", regardless of cost, to get the Feds money, then I agree with Russ Koon on the free license.

If the state only needs too get a number count for the Federal money then why not just charge seniors a dollar instead of 3.75? h.h.

Because it costs them $3.00 to print the license.

Don't comply and they'll send it to another state that will. Jack

There is a minimum dollar amount the feds will accept. It's been awhile since I attend the formation meeting on this (3 years ago) but I believe that minimum amount is $3 per angler. I don't want to hijack this thread so start another one on the senior license issue if the issue displeases you. Jack P.S. Let me add that the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Committee (FWCC) and the DNR are all in favor of this. The FWCC is made up of 20 of the major conservation organiztions in the state including the BASS Federation, Izaac Walton League, Indiana Wildlife Federation, Indianapolis Flycasters, Northeastern Indiana Troust Association, Northwest Indiana Steelheaders, Indiana Bass'n Gals, and the Indiana Sportsmens Roundtable. (And these are just the fishing orgs.)
