I spent 90 minutes in the Chopper this evening circling several ICO's, IPD officers, Capital Police officers, Animal Control, etc, etc looking for 2 gators in White River. They were verified by an officer, but we sure didn't see any while we hovered above. If you do see the gators, do not try to apprehend.....call Crimestoppers, or McGruff the Crime Dog. We are sure that these gators are behind the recent spike in criminal activity in the Indy area. They are considered armed and dangerous! www.wthr.com/Global/story.asp?S=5517286&nav=menu188_1Full story at 11....

Very likely they were not true alligators, but rather closely related South American Caymans. Someone must have had them as pets and released them into the white river, when they grew up and became a threat to the owner(s).

I imagine they will be dead after the weather we are getting this weekend Yup, IF they would make it past this week, they sure won't make it past Nov/Dec..... Those dudes get REAL sluggish in the cool temp. I waded around one in Texas last Jan. If fact after our hunt we going to try to catch him......He was a 5-6 footer....

I got footage of a 4-5 footer in a retention pond in July '05.... Animal control caught it eventually on float jugs with chicken as bait. Yesterday the DNR wasn't about to "catch" it, they had their shotguns out and were gonna blast it if they got the shot.
They could call in the Crock Hu........ohhhhhhhh, wait a minute.......nevermind.

I'm launching the air boat with the twin 396's and we're going trolling tonight. We'll cruise the river armed with AK's in hand and the 50 mounted on top. My son said something about calling the IPD to see if they could provide us with some bait.

Art, just float a raft with a pile of rock salt on it and a FREE CRACK sign on it. You'll have plenty of "Bait".

I can tell you that there was only one "man in green" there the other day and he didn't have a shotgun in his hands! I didn't see a thing.....and wouldn't have shot it unless it was trying to eat someone anyway. Now.....if all of those news guys, helicopters, CAMERAMEN, etc., etc.....were not around............. then I'd have some new boots comin'. Crikey! I'll believe it when I see it.

My "bad" MIG for saying "DNR" had their shotguns out..... From 1.700 feet it's tough to distinguish men in uniform sometimes.... SOME law enforcement officers indeed DID have shotguns out......We took a live shot of them running from the log jam there at the waterfall North along the bank after someone must have thought they saw it. It was obvious that they were gonna blast it.....I only hope they had something other than 6-shot in it as I'm sure that would just made the gator mad.
If you were the only ICO, I got some really cool pics of you climbing on those logs and "glassing" the river. I'll try to post them this weekend.....as I'm off work till then.
